6" Rough Country front springs
2" Rough Country add-a-leaf in back with Super Lift shackle flip with 52" springs.
2" body lift with Emergy Suspension poly body bushings and home built 2" bumper lift because it looks ***** with bumper gap
36/12.50-15 Super Swampers on 8" stock rallys
Had to lengthen the selector rod for the transfer case. Also the shackle flip does drive line angle correction but moves the rear axle forward a bit.
Front springs have a factory installed wedge block that angles the pinion up
Transfer case spacers were moved from the bottom of the cross member to between the frame and cross member to drop the tail down.

I wish there were more tire options in the 33x10.5. I only know of BF Goodrich All Terain Radials in a 33x10.50x15. I'd really like a 35x10.50. I want a taller tire, but I don't want all the width. I don't think people realize how bad tire width affects mpg and strain on the powertrain.

This thread is great, really helps visualize what a lift and tires will do to a truck.

I'm thinking I would like about 3-4 inches of suspension lift, and run 33's on my 78. What is the point where you have to start doing major driveline and steering changes? At 4" can you just do springs, shocks and a dropped steering arm, or are there other things you should change? My truck will spend most of it's time on the street, but I will do some off roading.

4 inch lift is a pretty good "jack of all trades" lift. Extended brake lines are something that would be good to add to your list. But other than that, a 4 inch lift is very simple. For a truck that you drive a lot, do yourself a favor and go with springs that are known to ride a little softer.

I will probably be replacing the brake lines anyways, as I am adding the lift and cleaning up the underside of the truck. Any particular kits ride better than others?

Basically, the more they cost, the better they tend to ride. Tuff Country and BDS are on the top of the "not a log wagon" list. Unless you go with custom springs.

Bucket,

That sounds good. It probably won't be until spring before I get ready to do the lift kit, so I have some time to do some research. Heck, I don't even have the truck home yet!

Does anyone have any pics of 315/75R16 tires on their truck? For summer time I'm thinking I will bump up a size to those.
