I completed the same pan work as you.
My new non-high pressure pump runs at those same levels and only in high temps at idle show a lower 45 psi or so.
Was my timing cover leaking before the pump replacement? No. Was the higher pressure a result of a now new leak? I don’t know.

Or a SB Ford that twists distributor drive shafts and or destroys drive gear. Just went through that a couple months ago on my own car.
Or the roll pin on the dist gear shears off. Been there done that.

In theory, (I love to live there,) you need 10 lbs pressure for each 1000 rpm. My Moroso pump comes with three springs, I have the 70 psi spring as I plan on wickin up the 489 hopefully to 7000 rpm, but it might only make it 6500, as the AFR heads are the 265's, but now fully ported. I'de be shouting Hallelujah for that oil pressure, because it tell you a whole bunch about the clearances in your engine, in your case healthy.

Or in the case of a slant six, strip the oil pump drive gear.
Dude LMAO Slant 6's could run without OP for years ! Back in the day we would find a victim, drain the oil and antifreeze put a cinder block on the go pedal and take bets on how long it would take to come unglued :rotflmao:
