I do things the hard way. Anybody can make a lightweight swoopy car go fast... I like big giant things that go fast. I used to go to the local Super Chevy shows (loved Indy and Norwalk) and spent much of the time watching the strip. One car that sticks in my mind is a '71 Caprice coupe. Low slung and painted silver with all stock metal except for a cowl scoop, and it was tubbed. IIRC it ran 10's... pretty impressive for a plus-sized street car.

Anyway, before I die I want to put some serious power in two of my biggest vehicles. My '70 Impala will be first with a nice healthy big block and fat rubber out back. Second will be the '79 K30 crew cab, something along the lines of the GM crate 572 will work nicely.

Trust me, a 67-68 isn't much lighter than a 69-72 if at all. I also don't think a 62 Chev 1/2 ton Chev or a 64 GMC 3/4 ton, a 65 El Camino, a 64 Grand Prix(which was race fast with a ****** trans) and a 69 Cutlass are light vehicles. Street/Stripping in the low to high 12's isn't to bad. All were daily drivers in Los Angeles rush hour traffic. Those were my 80's and early 90's driven vehicles.

The 67-72 Blazers and Jimmy hold a special place in my heart... Along with a regular GMC. These trucks are so damn hard to come by for cheap though.

So True. My Heartthrob would be a 64-66 3/4 Ton GMC Panel Truck without side windows.

oh wow!!! My only dilemma would be do I drive it??? With that low of mileage I'd be scared of something happening to it
