Not sure why those pics should up multiple times!!

The frame mounts zip stripped together are factory Olds frame mounts I removed from a 85 G body years ago.

It was pouring rain when I took the pics, if absolutely needed I’ll go back over with a tape and crawl under the truck for detailed measurements.

This pic is of the passenger side engine mounts it looks like A body frame mounts sitting on the factory triangulation brace found in pretty much every square body ever made it seems to me that the OP could position the trans on the crossmember, bolt factory Olds mounts to the block, and using G or Abody frame mounts weld or bolt them to the triangulation brace. Opinions?

When you say a body is that both wore the downsize and after or just before?

A bodies are 65-72 Chevelle, Pontiac tempest/GTO/Lemans, Olds cutlass/442, buick skylark/Gran Sports.

While the 73-77 cars are also considered A body’s, not much interchanges with the earlier cars as far as suspension. The 78-82 cars are technically also A bodies, for model year 83-87 they started calling the G body even though pretty much everything suspension and drivetrain is the same.

It was really just a name change. For '82, the newly introduced Celebrity/Ciera/6000/Century became "A" bodies.

As to the reason for the name switcharoo, I'd really like to know the answer.

@OldBlueDually

Is it possible to cut some 5/16" plates, bolt them down with the original mount bolt holes. This would extend the mounting surface forward to accomodate another type of "perch ". Crude pic' , but I hope it makes sense.

Thanks Dave, that makes perfect sense and is exactly what I was thinking in my mind after reading through these posts!

Something will work, I just need to spend time on it! It has been a crazy busy summer with kids activities and whatnot, so not much time for the truck!

Thanks again for the help with this!
