my wiper switch has a loose connection so that when it is less than about 50deg, the washer doesn't work. as soon as the switch gets warm from running the heater for a while, the washer works.

as a work around, and to prevent tearing into the column for a relatively minor inconvenience, I added a momentary switch between the pink and black wires in the harness upstream of the delay module. this grounds the washer same as if the switch was working. the beauty of tapping upstream of the module is that the wipers sweep just like if the switch was used also.

I put the switch on the backside of the column behind the multifunction switch. so it is hidden from view, to at least make it a little less janky

Awesome! Starting is half the battle!
It definitely is, and it’s difficult to not get caught up in the thought processes behind each point On the project, even more difficult to keep momentum when the family gets busy/ work life events.

I performed some basic daily driver maintenance this weekend. I gave her a much-needed oil change. I filled it up with Shell Rotella 15-40 and a Wix filter. Replaced the wipers with new 18" ones. I couldn't believe the price for wipers. I paid $ 14 each. They went up to $40 each Ouch!
I remember when you could by the refills and not have to buy the holder. I didn't see the refills at O' Reilly's.

I also replaced one of the washer lines it dry rotted. I also found the bothersome exhaust leak. I sprayed some soapy water around the gaskets. The top of the header gasket at cylinders 3 and 5 is blown out. I'll fix it this coming week.

If you or someone close to you has a Costco membership, they have Michelin wiper blades, for around $11 each. Going to get a pair for the daily.

I ordered a new clutch kit and the parts to change over to a hydraulic slave cylinder. Switching out the 4 speed overdrive manual to a NV3500. I was driving it at lunch 2 weeks ago and felt a clunk and after that it felt like the clutch was slipping if I didn't baby it. On the way home that night the clutch was slipping bad and eventually had to drag it home. Hopefully the flywheel isn't smoked and the swap goes pretty smoothly. Nothings against the MY6 tans, it preformed fine, its a huge drop from first to second with my rear gearing... I still need to re-gear the truck for the 5 speed but hopefully its a bit smoother.

As to running out of gas and embarrassment. We had the unluckiest guy in the world come to our shop for awhile. Towed in,dead fuel pump,r&r pump, ship it. A day or 2 later he has it towed back it died on the road,no start. He ran out of gas,we told him all we did was hear the pump look at the gauge and add fuel. Pay for the tow and come get it. His wife brings him she is pissed because she didn't know it was just out of gas ,he didn't want her to know. They are arguing right in front of the shop he's standing with his hand in the door jam she's pissed that he paid the tow bill, slams the door and stomps towards her car,his fingers are slammed in the door, doors are locked we had to break in to open his door.Poor guy, he died very shortly after that he was a bicycle rider and got rear ended by a car.
I am pretty sure I am married to her sister...

I installed a factory front way bar setup on my 83 GMC, it is the RPO F59 that mine never had. 1 1/16 inch bar. I used the factory bar and brackets with new Energy Suspension bushing 3.5175G and new grade 8 bolts. It seemed to go on easily and lined up with the factory holes in the frame.

But the question I have, I read online that the end of the bar should be flush with the bushing on the A-arm. On mine the bar is sticking out about 1.5 inches, and the bushing seems more distorted in shape that I would have expected. Did I do something wrong? I watched a lot of videos on youtube, and it looks like i have the brackets facing the correct direction, and looks like the bar isn't upside down.

UPDATE: Could it be upside down?

Mine's like that. As long as your bar goes downward toward the control arms, you're fine. I replaced the bushings on mine 60k+ miles ago

**edit** Well, I should say would've gone downward from the factory lol. Looking at my picture, I could probably stand to flip my bar over

Put her on a tow truck to the local transmission shop this morning. Hopefully, going to get the 700r4 sorted out and drive it on the regular this year. Fingers crossed it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Washed mine yesterday to get all the brine/salt crap off of it. What's it do? Rains all night and this morning all the way to work

Well I'll be dipped! Just got the call from the transmission shop and good news it was. Main issue a stuck pressure switch and the secondary issues were speedo housing and tailshaft seal leaks. Pan was dropped and almost zero forbidden glitter so it got a new filter, fluid and gasket along with the switch, seals and TV cable adjustment. Total $862 and she's driveable for the foreseeable future. Next stop before bringing her home- the muffler shop! Bye-bye pellet cat and restrictive pipes.

Drove it! Beautiful January day, sunny and highs around 60. Went to town for horse and dog food, a couple groceries, picked up dry cleaning and stopped at the ABC store. (For those outside VA or the USA, ABC is the state-run liquor store)

Tomorrow the Blazer goes to the paint and body shop to have the top surfaces of the bed redone. This is where the removable top rests and they get scratched and dinged from taking the top off and putting it back on. Plus, it looks like the truck was painted with the top on so the areas under the top are a slightly different shade. I took the top off the day after I got the Blazer and have no plans to put it back on.
