And being an AZ truck, it bet it's a no rust truck too.

A little bit of surface rust all over, and some penetrated in the front lower fenders but nothing major. I already cut it out and made the repars and it came out good. Floors, bed, doors are all solid thankfully. Appreciate the warm welcome.

Don't pass up a deal on a nice 6.2 Squarebody though. You're exempt from Smog all the way to 91 Burb, Crew Cab, or K5 as long as the engine designation in the VIN is J or C for 6.2 Diesel. The only reason I've held onto my 85 K10 so long and putting it together. I ever end up back in So Cali where I was born and raised, that truck is going with me. Of course it'll have a nasty smoggy motor in it, but it'll be exempt from emissions testing.

That law used to be anything 20 years or older was exempt. That's exactly why I kept my 64 GMC 3/4 ton, 62 Chev 1/2 ton, 64 Pontiac and 69 Olds Cutless. Those were the race vehicles I used in 1984 and later.

HRPC What would you say a nice 6.2 engine consists of?
And about how much for a nice one?
I've heard around 300-400 for a decent one

So how does that work for something like a '77, '78 K20 or a K30 that didn't come from the factory with catalytic converters? Think those started in '79?

They still have to be smog tested every other year. They're just not required to have Cats. Of course the allowable emissions is higher too.

I like the truck, but JMHO... if you want it, those running boards kill it for me. I know they have a benefit. I have ailments that will require me to have some kind of steps, and I won't use just a step since those get snagged when wheeling, but I intend to use some kind of rock slides made of channel iron. Heavier though, but sturdy and won't look as grandpaish. Wheels and tires are the **** though !!! :waytogo:

Oh don't worry. I couldn't agree more I don't like the running boards either. I will be taking them off very soon. Just haven't been a huge priority. I'd rather fix or upgrade some to make it run better than look better. I saw a set on a Silverado that I would like to run. Had a spot for a step to access the cab and the bed.
