You said something about an old lawnmower handle for the conductor, I am guessing you didnt Remove the Chrom plateing from the handle did you? If Not I would question even having a completed circuit.

Also for the charger, Do you have an ole Lincoln Buzz Box (arc welder)? I read an article somewhere that said you can also use these..

I still think there are 2 problems your are not getting.
1. You didnt mix the soda with the water
2. You are NOT Using the correct Electrode, The Lawnmower handle Does NOT have much more surface area then the rebar PLUS it is chrome plated which is not letting the charge even enter the water.

Why dont you try to use Just the blades, Use a grinder and clean them up so you can atleast rule out some things, Also why Not run a tap thru the hole on the intake that you are putting the bolt into, you could be loosing ground there also.

The handle bar is black not chrome. Yes I mixed the soda with the water this last time and used a mower blade along with the mower handle bar.

EXACTLY Even if the Handle is NOT chrome and is BLACK PAINT AND COATINGS ARE NOT A CONDUCTOR OF ELECTRICITY It will NOT work until you HAVE BARE METAL as a conductor.
Is that plain enough english?

That rebar and the little charger should have done something. I think it's your ground hoss. Like OLP said, get a tap and clean the threads out of one of those holes and stick a bolt in it. Even sand the top of the hole to bare metal and run a jamb nut against the surface to get good contact. You can even pretest the things you set up with an ohm meter before sticking them in the water. Hit Home Depot and get a short section of bare angle iron for the positive cable to clamp onto. Eliminate the little easy to do things. If that old charger is putting out any kind of amperage, it should work.

just like your vehicle battery it don't work too hot if you don't have a good connection where the cables bolt to. Rebar is a good thought, but it's already black and looks corroded and crap.

I don't think his charger is any good. It may be weak. He's changed everything but the charger and still no results.

I'd also question the chrome and don't think I'd use anything chrome. I'd also be afraid of any possible Haz Mat it may produce.

I currently have a license plate bracket with a license plate light cooking. Its coming along well in a 5 gallon bucket, and I am using an used burnt up auto trans steel for my metal. I'm using it cuz it is round and surrounds the part I am cleaning and has alot of surface in the water. I got pics of it I'll be posting on the other Electro thread a bit later.

Ok Enough ******* around. I dont think your charger is the Problem but lets test it real quick.

Take the positive and negative clamps and touch them togather a few times real quick. If it arcs then you know the charger is good, If it doesnt then its shot.

Even though common sence tells you that it has to be plugged in and turned on I will remind you. MAKE SURE ITS PLUGGED IN AND TURNED ON

I dont have on/off on the old charger it just comes on automatically. I dont think it has enough power. Like I said earlier I would funny readings in window meter at times when charging batteries. The ends arc/spark cause I tested it after the first time I tried it and didn't work.

Just cause you get "funny" readings does NOT mean the Charger doesnt work properly. Nor does it mean it isnt strong enough Try testing the leads with a mulrimeter, see what kind of readings you get then.
Just got home from buying this at tractor supply. 1 year warranty and made by schumacher.

I got a feeling it was a waste of money but to each his own, BTW send me your old charger

I dunno, I have a feeling its a bad charger. As easy as this process is, and he's tried differant things now, what else can he be going wrong??? For real, this is so easy even a cave man can do it. Surely Dave can too.
