My wouldn't let me sell our dog for 10 grand even if I had a willing buyer!

I wouldn't sell mine either, not even for a new/used truck. My dogs love me to much and they'd be heartbroken, then so would I. Pains in the asses, but I love'm and they are my bestest buddies.

When the kids are older we'll get a blonde lab but we want the kids to be older first.

hmmm, Curious why you'd wait??? Great for kids to grow up with a family pet. Labs are great family dogs too. One of the best breeds for a family pet IMO. Uusually have a mellow temperment, but will come to life bigtime when it comes to being protective over their household and family members of that household.

$233.50 for gas

$164.98 for diesel

Just the gauge...damn.

Wow, for that kinda money, I'd just be buying me a Stewart Warner or Auto Meter aftermarket set up,

I would have bid on that if I thought it would work, but I've read that the vss feed in my '89 has to go to the ecm so a factory style tach isn't possible.

Why wouldn't it be? The VSS doesn't have anything to do with the tach.

X2.

I've had three Labs so far, two yellows and a chocolate. They're great dogs but if you get a purebred I strongly suggest getting pet insurance. They have some genetic issues with their rear legs which can lead to torn ACL's. The surgery to repair is REALLY expensive, but without corrective surgery the dog can lose the use of it's legs. My current Lab has had both of her back legs rebuilt. I've got double the money in her that I do in my Suburban.

True, but I do beleive his tach would work off the crankshaft sensor right? He has TBI, so its going to be read from the ECM instead of the dizzy I do beleive. Not positive though. I'd be certain those guages are designed to run off the dizzy leads.

The tach cluster was actually available up to 1990, a lot of people don't know that. Of course, only 10 came with it in 1990.

I really wouldn't think it would make a difference whether it read from the Dizzy or ECM. I'll have to research that more though.

I'm just going on the info in an article written by Dave Cross. He's regarded as something of a guru with modding factory clusters and he says:

"87 EFI trucks, 87-91 Blazers/Suburbans: Cannot install tachometer cluster because of speed sensor (VSS) feedback needed for the factory EFI computer and ABS brakes (90-91)."

I'm not sure exactly what he means, but I'm pretty sure it means I wasn't spending $233.00 on a paperweight.

Edit: article I pulled that from- http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/interior/factory tachometers.htm

That does it. Someone donate me a 1987-91 EFI truck and 1981-90 tach, I'll make one work!

I looked at the page. His meaning is that a cluster with a cable speedo won't work in a truck with an electric speedo.

That doesn't mean it can't be modified!!!!

I can gauran-damned-tee you I can make it work with a VSS speedo!

Using your Makita drill to spin the tach doesn't count.
