Help Me Settle This!

it has the small harmonic balancer. those didn't come on the large journal 327 or on any 350. I can't believe you guys didn't notice this. highdesertranger

It looks like the thicker 8" balancer to me, but even if it's not, it could very easily have been swapped.

Yeah ,I knew that. Was trying to be sarcastic. I'm not as good as Honky. Also the small plug in the oil galley at the front of the block above the timing cover says pre 350

I'm late to the party, but I also have some later 350 blocks with that plug.


To solve this, we really need a block casting number!

Oh, and the wire holders were used for many years too, for various cars.

3970010 is the casting so either a 302 four bolt or 350 2/4 bolt.

This depresses me Jesse, I think your brother should just give it to you. Sorry I know this doesn't help.

I was hoping he’d say better something get done with it than letting it rot but apparently not. When there’s nothing left in a few years, I won’t want the stupid thing.

Dude I'm 58 years old! I watched The Jerk when it came out at a theater that was demolished over twenty years ago. I don't remember much about it. I don't like Fop, I'm a Dapper Dan man! lol.

I could use the 700r4 and 208 transfer case for my 1976 GMC? If everything is still good,find another truck,put the motor and running gear in it,to be money ahead.The motor and drive train in good condition is worth 1500 all day long.

That engine/driveline being stored the way it has been, it's not worth anywhere near $1500. If that's what stuff in unknown condition gets in your neck of the woods, you have my sympathy. Core value at best.
