Using your Makita drill to spin the tach doesn't count.
I have a feeling it can be done too. Just so long as the dizzy has an elctronic lead off it, even if it might require retrofitting a differant dizzy, I say it can be done. Really, I'd have to wonder what the VSS has to do with it though. Vehicle speed has nothing at all do with engine rpm. I just say it wouldn't be able to be done thru the ECM or the crankshaft sensor, but it will have to be done at the dizzy.
