I bought one for $400 many years ago. It was an 87 with the 2.5 iron duke 2wd short box. Had 87 monte wheels on it with fat tires.... i ran that little **** like a stock car, until the tree ended all that fun. I love s10s, especially the early more square ones.

I had nearly the same thing as my first vehicle but mine was an 86 with a 4 speed and nova wheels. You couldn't break the speed limit but we did go through 3 of those engines. High RPMs will kill the little things. haha

I have owned only one s10. A 2001 v6 automatic. Definitely a good little vehicle. We all know there there is no such thing as one vehicle to do it all. I let my mom borrow it a couple years ago and she liked it so much I told her to keep it. What I really like about it is it can get 23 mpg and I can fix issues. It has 190k on it. I just put a water pump in it. $55 and it was easy to replace. You have to love vehicles you can fix that easy

My first ride was a 88 s10 4.3 short bed 2wd. Picked it up for 700 bucks and ran the he'll out of it for 2 years before it split the crank, had 425k miles when I sold it still ran but hammered like he'll and would only go 35

As I always tell people in Minnesota when it comes to a gm product. Rust is the only thing that matters. If you have a clean vehicle with little to no rust, miles are irrelavant. You can always slide in new parts. I have a 2000 suburban that I have to let go of because it's so rusty. It has 360k miles. But the rust is the only reason I am junking it. Miles are irrelavant.

I agree... I have a 92 the clock shows 320k+ and only rust on it is the extended cab corners.
As I always tell people in Minnesota when it comes to a gm product. Rust is the only thing that matters. If you have a clean vehicle with little to no rust, miles are irrelavant. You can always slide in new parts. I have a 2000 suburban that I have to let go of because it's so rusty. It has 360k miles. But the rust is the only reason I am junking it. Miles are irrelavant.

That's my point. You could go to a million miles. People seem to have this belief that if a vehicle has 300k that its worn out. As long as the metal is good your fine.

I never understood why the mpg of the later vortec engines were so much lower. Both my '91 4.3's we're good for 26-28 mpg on the highway.

Mine was 4x4 and I un4x4ed it. Removed all the 4wd stuff put on 2wd drop spindles on the 4x4 arms and kept the torsion bars
