Saturday I got the front tore down, it took the sacrifice of cheap 3 rachets, (impact wouldnt budge some of the bolts)
I rounded off a few of the spindle nuts that bolt the spindle to the knuckle, and lower kingpin cap bolts were pretty stuck. That essentially consumed most of my day Saturday

Here the real kicker. Now this is only an "eyeball" estimate for now, but I picked the front end up with my hillbilly gantry until the axle tubes were level with the center of the 39.5's......

Boy was something off in my measurements ... She's gonna tower those 39.5's

Rear axle, there wasn't much to be done.
Brakes ,r otors, and calipers all looked good. All I did was weld down new pads for the 38.5 Centerpin distance of the s10. U bolts are on order. Once the front is all welded into place securely enough, Ill jack up the rear and slide this into place

And lastly a pic for entertainment.

1 ton stub next to a 1/2 ton stub.

Looking good. Just my opinion, but it would be better to have the shackles on the rear of the spring.

Wish I could, but due to the shape of the s10 frame, doing so would drastically kick my front pinion downward.

You can see it here when I was visualizing the whole thing... Makes more sense to run front shackles.
At this place it rests now, the leaf springs lay flat and parallel to the frame if the truck.

I totally understand why you did it that way. Having the front body mount right in the area of where the shackle would be for the rear puts a hamper on things too.

I keep starting a topic or thread, name it as one thing, then change my mind and do something else. This was supposed to just be a 1/2 ton sfa swap, using 10 bolts and 36's, now it's became a 1 ton swap using a kingpin 60 and 14b and 39.5 boggers.....

@bucket can you change this title? Lol

Changed it a bit.

So if you have the K5-Ton, is this going to be the S-Ton?

Tonight I finished welding down the rear hangers nice and solid. Somewhat of a PIA because of the shape of the frame... Had to fill in some gaps with 6011 then go back and do a nice hot bead of 7018 to stich it all together.
And in other areas, there's holes in the frame from the factory that I couldn't weld at....

Hindsight is 20/20.
Should've fitted up a plate to the surface first, then I could've had a nice flat place to weld to.

Rachet straps came off of the back since it's fixed to the frame. Took the bumper and grill off so I can get the front hanger in position where I want it, tacked down, and then finally welded.

In the third pic you see, the front half of the frame is angled, so I will need to notch it to make the tube parallel to the ground.... Not a problem.
