Hello
I am looking into doing a motor swap to either a 454 big block or to go all out and get a 6.6 dirty max with a six speed to put in my 87 custom deluxe. But I was wondering what all motors will fit into the motor mounts that are pre existing in the truck thanks for the help

You could put whatever you want in. Money is the biggest factor and how much time you have.

Looked into a Duramax swap when I did my Dually. You can ck out Powerblock TV and see what needed to be done to fit it in. Mod oil pan/cut out floor/etc. Any bbc up to the 8.1L will bolt to the factory mounts. So will an LS with plates. Like already stated it just depends on budget and time.

Yep, you can do whatever you want with money being the only factor.

Allison is huge and sucks up a lot of power. That is why I looked for the ZF-6 in my Silverado. I get much better gas mileage also.

4L80E behind an 8.1L. Been running one in my truck for 2yrs with no issues. No cutting floorboards. Easy swap.

I've been reading on this trans swap for some time. In the new trucks a 2 inch body lift is required. How are you liking this trans? Any issues with the clutch failing?

I have never heard of needing a body lift with a 4L80E trans. Allison maybe. Anyway I haven't had any problems with the 4L80E in my truck. Been in it for a couple of years with no issues

The Allison was the transmission that was so big that the HD series trucks needed a "body lift". They made the frame taller to make some room for it.
