Cool, I was trying to find a 30psi gauge. They seem to be 15 or 60. I was worried about potential leaks there. I see yours is 15?
Roger 15. I didn't feel the need for a 60.

Also got more 5/8" hardware to upgrade the 1/2" on the truck, old vs New brackets, another hitch receiver I'm going to add below the existing one is too high but it is good for my hitch mounted accessories (crane and eventually a vise)

Took the weekend to flush the welds on the rocker, yes Overkill on the tack welds - pulling straight little warpage from the alteration after the fact. That and a hand to remove my hood thrown in the box and then fastening the cowl support down - not 100% yet - hope everyone is getting lots done since the new year started!

Forgot to post a picture Thursday. Loaded up a bunch of weight in the back just in case since this is my driver while my Z71 is down. Threw a ton of tools in the toolbox and 4 wheels/tires and 10 gallons of gas, figure there's about 500-600 extra pounds in there. Snow isn't the problem here, it's the ice. We got about 2" of snow Friday morning, then it got warm enough just to barely start melting everything, then the freezing rain/sleet started about 3pm Friday. I had zero plans to leave the house Friday or Saturday but figured I'd weight up just in case I had to. Thankfully I never had to and we only lost power for about 2hrs Saturday morning.

I think cables would have been a wise addition, as traction is key. Yes, the weight helps, but the cables help without the weight. I'd say chains, but with your lowrider, low profile cables would be the only thing to put on the rear tires.

For sure, if I'd thought there was a serious chance I'd need to get out, I would've ordered some. But thankfully we only get this once every 2-5 years and this truck typically stays parked when we do. I've never really thought about it since we rarely get this weather but chains or cables probably wouldn't be a bad thing to order to keep on hand for the Z71 just in case

A few years ago we traveled to my home area, and decided to go up higher in elevation to stay a couple of days in a different town. Before leaving I almost bought some cables for the Forester, but, it being a Forester and having good tires I didn't. We got up there, and I could have gambled with it being a Forester, but the Changeable Message Signs were all saying chains required. Stopped in to a local auto parts store, and $120 later, had a set of cables for the car. The roads were clear...lol... Had I bought them locally before leaving it would have cost $40. But now we have them, and when we travel to the mountains during the wintertime those are loaded in the car just in case. Even have a set for the Cherokee and it has snow rated tires on it.

Also, any time we travel out of town during the wintertime I make sure to load a sleeping bag that is rated for at least 20 degrees, along with a supply of water and some snacks. My wife thinks I over do it, and that is after watching numerous shows of people being stranded in the wild without supplies...lol...

Hate when that happens lol. All the times I've gotten out to play in the 4wds, I've thankfully never gotten in a bind or really needed chains but I know I'm pushing my luck. We don't have anywhere in the state where chains are required though lol. Prob wouldn't find many people that even know how they work or what they are

Supplies are definitely a good idea as well. I usually do that even when we're just going out to play since we're usually out for hours and go hundreds of miles, at least throw a couple sleeping bags, a chainsaw, some wood, a lighter and some food in the truck. And extra gas

Why is it the simple little things that are so entertaining to me... :D
Got the rubber stopper (only one tab left on my tray) and new left and right springs for my ash tray to actually open and close properly. hah. So little.. yet so enjoyable.

Drove the truck to my knee appointment after going one step leaner with the metering rods- big mistake! Way too lean. But interesting to see how much difference they make- pretty dramatic.

So I came home, put the prior rods in with weaker yellow springs- safe again but hitting the 15s under moderate load. Worked my way through the orange then the pink springs until I was happy with the spread of what I was seeing on the gauge- high 13s- low14s under light load and cruising, mid-low 12s WOT, and anything from 13-14 at idle (which seems to be the most variable). Good enough for me and probably better than most carbs on the road. It just illustrated to me how a guy could tune himself into a corner if he wasn’t careful.

While parking in the garage, the shift indicator stuck, so I took off the bezel and lightly lubed the slider and the cable.
