I had a post about this a long while ago. I tried the colored "silicone" ones and had the same issue.Took care of another little issue today the vacuum plugs on my carburetor keep drying out and cracking so I finally got some silicone one’s supposedly rated for high temperature. Will have to wait and see if that’s true.

I used vacuum hose and ball bearings(of the appropriate size) looks less trashy, and you for sure have a good seal. Haven't had an issue since.
