Turbo350 w/shift kit slamming 2nd gear

How do we get the accumulator cover back on? Can't figure out how to get the snap ring back in the groove while pushing on the cover hard enough to see the snap ring recess. There has to be a trick to it. TH350 is still installed on the truck.
Yep, Matt said the trick. Most people put that O ring over the cap and try to push it in place. NOPE. Put the O ring in the groove of the case FIRST, THEN push the cap in and set the snap ring.

Lube the seal with vasoline, place the o ring in the case, right up against the step it seals against.

Lube up the cover, put it square against the seal in the bore. Use a large socket and a prybar against the floorboard to push the cover in. Once it’s in place, reinstall the ring.

It will take some effort to install.
Thanks Matt and HotRod! Its a K25, so there's both an exhaust pipe AND a driveshaft there. Pretty tight prying. Gonna try to see if there is another location to pry against and if there is a different angle to pry that we haven't already tried. Keeping that socket on the cap, the prybar on the socket, and the cap straight in the hole is a challenge in itself. Thanks again.
