That's to much fun there.

I could fill this thread with stuff me and old red have done. As I said me and that truck have been through H#ll together. I think I want to be burried in it lol That way if I get sent to H#ll I'll have a way around lol. If not I'll be able to cruise the streets of heaven in style in a square that has put my food on the table most of my life.

No doubt. Some trucks you'll just keep no matter how much work they need. As long as they don't rust apart, then bushings, bolts, nusts seals can always be replaced.

I think I said it already, I'd like to have a Square with a Vulcan Strapless, but I'd expect it to be cheap, otherwise I wan't a self loader. Man oh man did I get spoiled with self loaders. I've driven 2 different Dynamic SL's and that Century SL. I don't recommend them for everyone though. I've seen some tore up up rear differentials and some holes in some oil pans. You're not careful, it gets expensive quick.

I got one 86 gmc K35 with Vulcan and a 2000 gmc hd3500 with one. Not a real fan of them yet but there growing on me. I looked into finding a used 601 dynamic for my next build, but there still out of sight. I've never run a self loader, but would like to get one for my head driver. He ran one for years and swears by them. I personaly would rather have a square as a reliable recovery truck and a newer self loader and rollback. Sad part is the public sees the self loaders as modern equipment and don't want the ancient iron near there $40k vehicle

I only want one cuz I'm familiar with them. I'll work with anything that is dependable. Not a big fan of Jerr Dann roll backs though. Love the angles and the lifts. You can damn near flip a car over they lift so high and bed goes so steep, but the hydros are piss poor at best. Always leaking, broken rams, hoses rupturing, you name it it goes wrong with Jerr Dann hydros. So that makes me tend to stay away from Jerr Dann conventionals too. Century roll backs, The hydros and strong enough to lift a house, but the angels and lift distance are very small and short. You damn sure better know how to shake one off in a Century bed, but it'll do it for sure. You don't have to dump it off. The Jerr Dann don't like getting one shook off either. You better plan on cranking the rpms up on the hydro pump.

Yep, and that too. They are backwards of the industry standard. Everyone seems to be the right way, but JD is opposite. Friggin wheel lift controls belong on end of the bed, like the wheel lift is, and bed controls belong to the front where the bed goes. Just makes sense.

My century's have the wheel lift controls to the front of the control box and bed controls to rear. Don't make sense why they do that. About like the new coats tire changed with the bead breaker pedal as the middle one. About have to straddle the machine and lean over it to see what your doing to keep from bending rim. Stupid engineers just piss me off. That's what I dislike about the vulcan beds the boom controls are not with the wheel lift controls, and the operate the wheel lift you have to get between vehicle in tow and wrecker. Not a good place to be if someone isn't paying attention

What kind of ******* gets a Dodge and had a 360 gas motor? What a fuggin waste. ONLY way I'd have a Dodge is with a Cummins motor and NV manual trans, Dana 60/70 rear axle. I like that self loader bed though. Notice the ******* doesn't list a price? Cuz he wants to much for it I'm sure. He's hooked up in that bitch and can't get out of it.

What powertrain do you have in your Red SB Rig?

My red one has about a 375hp built 454. 78 block, 396 heads, 427 truck cam, air gap intake, and a 750 or so holley with 3" true duals and flow masters. I had about $4k in engine build 10 years ago. This is the 3rd truck it's been in. Originally in a 86 K30 wrecker with a 1100 Holmes that burnt to the ground, then in a 76 C30 dually I broke frame in two, and been in this truck about 3 years now. It still has all the power I could ever ask for and if it lacks enough power, I shouldn't be trying to use a 1 ton to pull what I'm pulling
