There’s no dirt on my frame lol, but you’re right...it does hit the frame if you don’t use anything. I used a large tube that fits over the whole lever and rotate it until it starts dribbling out. Recently did this to install the coolant level sensor in the radiator.
Do you mean the coolant temp sensor thats by the thermostat?.

No, there’s a coolant level sensor in my passenger side radiator end tank.

It’s a cucv, so maybe it’s specific to that or diesel platforms in general.

Looks like this and threads into a bung about halfway down the radiator.

If it was me , well first I wouldn't keep contemplating it, but my petcock drains all over the dirty frame and spring and goes into the bucket really dirty. The time to stain it's not worth it. That said I would just pull it and replace what I lost.

Do y'all's petcocks drain into a bucket clear without hitting something? I have tried everything, from useing a hose to a funnel and nothing works very well. Maybe if I have a correct size flexible funnel and or cardboard bent just right I could make it work. But it's either such a small amount I don't care if I loose it or it's all getting changed anyway.

It did but it took all of 2 minutes to change the petcock to one with a nipple, add a length of tubing and be done with it. C'mon fellers. Like $3.99 @ AutoZone.

Because people are lazy. It's far easier to troll the internet for instant solutions than use the brain God gave them.
I remember when all we had were books to look in for information. I remember making copies of the pages out of the Mitchell manuals at the shop. We didn't get Mitchell on Demand until the nineties. I still remember doing my first timing belt, was a little nervous about doing something wrong. Just followed the steps and everything turned out well.

Why isn’t draining a gallon or so through the petcock and pouring it back in the simplest option?
It is lol. I am just curious how else people do it.

Can someone please tell my ******* why it's taken 9 days (so far) for a 1 hour job?
Because I’ve had a foot of snow on the ground for a few weeks now and it’s still snowing.

Ok, in all fairness, according to the cantaloupeman's profile page, this young feller is 18 years old. If true, I'm a little more understanding of his nievity. And if he's taking interest and applying himself to working on classic trucks, I applaud his effort. That's much better than sitting on his ass playing video games all day like most misguided youth I see these days.
With that said, let's get back to the flaming! Lol
