Glad you got a t-case! 82-83 wasn't the split for z bar and hydros, for the 833 anyways. My 84 was a z bar setup.

That's actually good news. I'd prefer Z bar mechanical linkage. So that means the Bell Housing a bit more common that I expect. Not much, but at least it's possible.

I'm pretty sure '85 was the first year for the hydro clutch. And yeah, the pedals were different and there were two versions. The pedal bracket for vacuum brakes is a little different than the one for Hydroboost. I've been told you can modify one to work with the other, but I don't remember what was involved. If anyone has a pedal assembly for vacuum brakes we can compare and get it figured out.

So here's what I found from one of my older forum buds on another forum when I was sending him a message asking his Tug Squarebody and checked into his recent posts. He's selling a skid plate for the same crossmember that I'm using for the NP A833 for $10 & shipping. I'm thinking it should also work when I swap to NP205 too.

Was reading through the posts, found this one. I have an '85 C10 Scottsdale that was one owner truck (pretty much still one owner, it was my in-laws truck) that has this transmission. I'll have to check the RPO code for the transmission. I want to say that I read somewhere that the MM7 was for the Muncie and the MY6 was the NP833 transmission.

The truck is a very odd individual that I would personally call a 1 of 1 truck. 6.2 Diesel, 4 speed manual, 3.23 gearing, power windows, power doorlocks, air, cruise, delay wipers, cloth seat, rubber mat, factory bed rails a very odd truck. Here's a pic of the shifter. Oh and to ease a little more, I have over 211k miles on it, mostly hwy driving but still shifts good. Only drawback is the throws on the shifter are....just wow all I can say but then again I am used to a T56 6-speed in my Trans Am haha.

I beleive it is MY6 is the 2wd of the A833, and MM7 is the 4wd Cast Iron A833 w Tcase package. So both RPO's will designate it's an A833.

BTW, Welcome to GMSB Billy. Glad to have 1 more A833 truck on board. Just make sure you have out often. You'll learn alot of here.

I"m wondering if your Hurst Shifter might need a rebuild Billy. You can buy a kit to do it yourself for about $100, or send it to Hurst and they do it for about $250. Or just buy a Hurts Comp Plus shifter, which I might end up **** myself. Just have to get the Hurst Comp Plus for a Dodge, not a Chevy. The Chevy A833 kept the Dodge shifter bolt on pattern according to some reading I did. That might fix up the throw a little bit. And yes, it is a long stick, so that will make the throw longer too.

What axle do you have in this truck that it has a 3.23 gear ratio? You sure it's not 3.08? I don't beleive 3.23 is availalbe in GM 10 Bolts. And it's not a 1 only truck. The A833 is actually more common in the 6.2 tucks than the Gas trucks for those few trucks that did get it.

Ahhh you mean G80 Locking Diff. Eaton Gov-Lok aka Gov-Bomb cuz they like to blow up. I'd prefer an open diff with a lunchbox locker over a G80 Gov-Lok. But, do know of 1 that was in an 80 GMC, still working perfect and had nothing but gear oil changed about every 5 years. Yep, parts are still available. It actually is an oddball trans for a GM truck, but apparently it's kind of sought after by those who know it exists. I flat ass got lucky to get mine. Just chillin on CL one morning and seen another stupid 4 speed ad with not description, but it had a ****** pic too. By the ****** pic, I was 90 certain it was the A833 for a 4x4 for $75 with the Hurst shifter, crossmember and front driveshaft. Sure enough it was it. I wasn't even looking for one. I figred hell would freeze over before I ever had one of those, but it pretty much fell in my lap. Can't wait to get it installed and running.

Just looked and it is a 3.08 with the G80 option. The code I have on my tranny is MM7
