He still has a surge we are working out. He is going to do the minimum idle air setting, and report back.

As Jim stated I still have an idle surge but I changed the sensor in the truck. Now it starts which it used to not and before I realize an idle surge I rebuilt the throttle body and after that the truck now has an idle surge which leads me to believe what Jim has said is correct and I will try that and test fuel pressure after and test fuel pressure after that

The fuel pump rubber line split has also been known to cause surge as well.

Guess I missed that part. So Surge. as in idle raises all on it's own? Does it go high and stay high, or just up for a short time and come back down?

Like the one I was chasing a few months ago... up, down, up down. like a vac leak surge, but without the vac leaks.

And does this go away with the MAP unplugged? And we've already eliminated the IAC right?

He said earlier in the thread that he disconnected the harness plug, and it would run,, but if he unplugs the vac line, the MAP will send a wide open throttle signal to the ecm, and without 4 volts from the TPS at the same time, the ECM will say "WTF!?" and just throw a code, and may even roll coal at idle from the tailpipe.

I'll have to replace the whole fuel pump because that rubber line is impossible to buy on its own

Jep !!! High pressure fuel line. You might even get a nice counter boy and he give you what? An inch or so? I would give it away to a regular customer. So if you go there often, go to a guy you deal with alot and be sure to be buying something else too.

You're talking the short peice of line that connects the fuel pump to the sending unit where it picks up the fuel on the inside of the tank mounting flange right? Yes, you can submerge that. If it couldn't be submerged, it would had to have been designed to be threaded and all steel line all the way instead of using rubber line to make the connection.

Thats the way it should have been. That line splittin has caused the purchase of new trucks.
