After some diagnosing with jim on the phone we have found out the EGR is causing my idle to surge so as soon as I get the 60 bucks I'll install that part and hopefully that will fix all my issues I'm having

Does it need replaced or can it be cleaned up and function? Many times they just need a cleaning.

10-4. I thought we had got past that way back there. That would have been one of the first things I'd check. EGR and IAC first in this type of scenario always. At least it'll be fixed though. So a combo problem of EGR and Temp Sensor huh?

Sometimes you need to kick Murphy in the nuts :nutkick: and take things into your own hands.

My questionis, why didnt it run like this in the 88? My confidence on the egr fixing this completely is about 75%
There are a lot of unexplained rich running TBI cases out there, even with GM replacement longblocks, and all new A/C Delco sensors/actuators. I really need to plan a run up the mountain with my laptop. Gotta shitload going on the next 3 weeks, including a visit from the stork on the 13th.

Congratulations on the stork visiting again. I'm hoping the egr fixes more of the issue I'm having because I need this thing to run before I start work on the 6gh or I won't have any time to fix it after I start and then I've wasted money

Thanks! I hope it works too.
as far as smog, and you may want to talk to a guy up there since you are not in an enhanced area, and ask. But the last I heard, was that as long as there is no check engine light, and idle is below 1000 rpm, and you pass the sniffer, your all good. They dont care about a surge. One thing you can do thats free, is clean the cat by either running a gallon of laquer thinner in it, and run it at 2000rpm for 1/2 hour, or pull it off, and soak it in a bucket O water and Dawn over night.
