I stated with one those small pods like for 52mm tachometer, But it wouldn't work. So I got one from Summit that had a full adjustment base. Up and down The 80 to 89 or later, but the " A " is on both a angle and a small pitch. So I needed a base that I could cut off an inch off the base without removing the small hold down screw holes. So this one from Summit gave me the adjustment and it was a LED light. I started 3M outdoor double face tape , but it didn't hold so I drilled 2 - 3/32 holes and I used #6 philips screws. I know it looks a little crazy but a change is a change, and I think it looks OK ?

Nice addition and way to keep it on a smaller scale.

I like it. Up nice and high so you can see it while driving without having to look down.

Yeah that is a very nice spot. I know I have been thinking of how to add an analog tach once I finish my LS swap and although I am swapping to a 91 cluster I don't really want to do that gauge that replaces and moves the fuel gauge because I think you lose your 4wd indicator light or something. I'll probably follow your lead, but I might just keep using a BT dongle with a android phone as the interface for the tach and some of the other features that you can display through the Torque App.

I've been thinking I'd like one mounted on the "A" pillar.
Thanks for showing me it's just what I want!

Clean set up. I usually throw mine on top of the steering column, so when it's in gear, the gauge is vertical and in between the speedo and fuel gauge. Since my current truck is a low RPM big block, I went to an Autometer #2891 2 5/8" 6000 RPM tach. I still need to get it installed, but here's what the '79 looked like with a similar 3.75".

Yeah I have never been a fan of that stuff on top of the steering wheel for an automatic. Too much loose and exposed wiring for my taste

We do. I have the same wheel sitting on the shelf waiting for my K30. I kept the wiring in a loom then tucked it into the rubber gasket on the column so only about 4" of the loom shows. I hate hokey stuff. I even drill into the shifter collar and screw the base in so I don't have a clamp around the column.

Took a moment to realize I was looking at 2 different trucks!. I am thinking of going with the black 4 spoke style like the lower picture. I think it is all one piece though, very similar to the OEM 4 spoke style that is currently in mine.

Well see my tachometer is screwed and double faced to the front of the " A " pillar. So it isn't affected by the door slamming or not. It's fixed to the a pillar with the 2 screws and double face tape. But I was only able to set up with LED inside light is lit all the time the engine is running?
