I noticed all the underbody pics are in black & white. That's a clever way to hide a rusted frame.

That Gentlemen Jim is a bit steep considering the condition but I'd like to have one to say I've got it :) Not for that price, though :)

Is it normal for someone to paint the belts on an engine? This looks like someone tossed the whole engine in a paint booth and went for it... Seems shady to me.

Hmm, appears to be one of those, "Rebuilt with a Paint Job" As in, The paint job made it rebuilt. Many years ago in So Cali, a guy who sold used engines ran an Ad like that. Got sued over it too and he won. He said he never claimed the engine was rebuilt, he said it was "Rebuilt with a Paint Job" and that was the company slogan, the main advertisements clearly states "We Sell Used Engines" and that we give a 10 day no hassle warranty and will exchange any defective motor for another motor.

Was his name Bruce Fulper?

If you're talking about the guy in So Cali that got sued for, Rebuilt with a paint job... I don't know his name. What he did was rented about 3000sq foot of dirt outside a Pull A Part, put up a chain link fence around it, some tin shade over his isles and he had 4 rows of engines, Dodge, Ford, Chevrolet and GM which was the Poncho, Cad, Olds etc motors. I did buy one of his motors. Heard it run, he hooked up an Oil Pressure Gauge and if wanted to do it, he'd let you pull the plugs and do a compression test. The one I bought seemed to be in good shape and was a Small Journal 327 with a forged crank. I got it home and wanted to reseal it and put a set of main and rod bearings in it. The bearings were not wore out but were down to the babbit. I took him the bearings and showed them to him and without hassle or questions, he gave me a machine shop to take my crank to and when I got there, there was a freshly ground 10/10 forged 327 crank and new bearings. Guy said, No Charge, he billed it to the engine guy. One other guy I knew who bought one devolped a small water leak after day 4, slightly blown head gasket. The guy without hesitation offered, another used motor or would pay for a set of new head gaskets kit and enough machine shop credit to do a valve job on 1 head or have both resurfaced. I always thought the guy was fair. He had a deal set up with machine shops and also with Pull A Part where he'd buy the engines and get a good price.

That **** is funny. When my wife and I first started dating, she heard an ad on the radio for "The Most Versatile Clothes Hanger in the World," ......."You Can Place It Any Were You Want, On Any Wall,"....."It Can Hold Up To Twenty Pieces Of Clothing,"........for just 9.99, + 4.99 s+h so she bought two. She was pissed then she got them in the mail...............it was two Nails. She went to the District Attorney, and he said there was nothing he could do, because they didn't lie about the product, and they sent her something. She has never bought mail order again!
