I'd add some Msd timing tape to your list. It's like 9 bucks

Not a bad idea at all if you don't have a Timing Advance Timing light with a dial on the back of it. That's what I use. My trusty Craftsman Timing light that's about 28 years old now. Works like a charm. Using the dial you can know your full advance, centrifical advance only etc. Works real good in conjunction with a tach to set up your timing curve with weights and springs.

Maybe I should have just bought a whole new dizzy while I was there. With my vac advance problems and whatnot. It's a 60 mile round trip to the parts store.

If you can hold out for a few days, and save the 60 mile drive, just buy one of the $50 delivered to your door Skip White HEI dizzies. Comes with new Cap, Rotor, Ignition Module, Coil, Coil Pick up, etc. Pretty much a drop in replacement and go.

He has, Black, Red and Clear units. ALso has the fancy coil cap type too but I don't care for those at all. I'd go for this style with the OEM type coil cap. It's smaller and doesn't get near the firewall, and also not near as hard to line up the screws.

I have heard 1 person complain about them for Hi Perf use, but I know of many many that are happy with them. I'm sure it's a cheap ProComp dizzy, but for the money you can't beat it.

Well I finally got up the nerve to mess with it in the cold. It was more like the first video. Springs were fine. No slop at all. A few tiny specs of surface rust but no corrosion or anything. Was hoping that was my problem. The struggle continues.

That will have to wait a day or 2. I ran it out of gas in the driveway the other day messing with it, so I will have to go get some gas and a longer funnel. The dipshit PO put the body lift on and the tank hangs 3 or 4 inches lower now, so I can't fill it with a gas can and all my funnels are too short. It's supposed to warm up later in the week though so it won't be as miserable outside.

Got gas in it. Found my timing marks. Cleaned them up and marked them. ******* truck won't start. No spark. Surely I didn't mess anything up when I took the distributor cap off. Put it back on just like it came off

Took the cap back off to check everything. Put it back together and went to start it. Gave the gas a pump and my fking throttle cable broke.
