It is cold as **** outside and I forgot to get propane for my shop heater today. There's nothing like busting your knuckles when it's 20 degrees outside.

Last time I pulled the cap the rotor was shot. That was about 150-200 miles ago and it hadn't been on there very long. Granted, the PO had the plug wires in the wrong spot.

This is what your checking when you a are twisting the rotor... under the rotor the is the center plate and two weights on the outside of that.

Compare the last video to the first video and you'll see what is right and wrong.

When you get to taking off the cap take off the rotor as well. And perform the 1st and last test. Same thing really. Make sure you hold the rotor still while taking out the two screws.

In the last vid... at the end notice how he was able to lift the weight up and down wit one finger? Not good. Either the weight, bushing, or shaft the weight sits on is worn badly

Maybe I should have just bought a whole new dizzy while I was there. With my vac advance problems and whatnot. It's a 60 mile round trip to the parts store.

Re: 85swb "Fancy"

Throw the gasket on after you check out you cp and weights. Since this running rich issue was going on pre q jet I'm willing to put focus on the timing. One thing stock carbs rarely and I mean rarely ever do is foul plugs or even run rich unless the idle screws are outta wack... Unless you run too big of a carb... Heck I run 800c.f.m. q jet from a 454... test the dizzy out first eliminating the possible causes. Trust you hard work will pay off  and you'll be a pro at this carbed engine thingamahbob lol
