The 6.2 is a motor you either love or hate. If had to guess, 40% love it, 60% hate it. There are better diesels for certain. The people who love'm know they don't take alot of abuse. You can pull about what ever you want with them, but just don't hot rod 'em is what I been told, and that can get you real close to 20mpg in a Burb. That's impressive for as heavy as a Burb is. Should be a 700r4 in 84 with OD.

Are they the "converted" diesel? I thought I heard something like that. What kind of life do they get out of them, I figured if it only has 98K on it it should be pretty good shape motor wise, I don't know. I seriously thought about calling this dude and checkin it out, I just aint got no background on those 6.2's and know what to expect out of it. You see that I make a lot of short trips pulling the boat and do a lot of idleing in the wintertime. And I am a text book driver so I don't race around mashing the pedal like all the other ******** around here. Just wondering the history of this motor.

NO, this is not the converted Diesel. The conveted Diesel was an Olds 350 Rocket, with a bigger crank journal and Diesel heads thrown in it. Those suck balls. This is a Detroit Diesel. If its lasted 98K so far and is running well, then I'd say its been treated well. If it wasn't, it would have been junk by now. Some say they will go indefinatly if driven right. Expect to replace a few injector pumps. Seems they have upgraded the fuel heating system which was also a problem on those. Iman said many swap out the glow plug controller with a Cummins controller and that problem is solved, but with the upgrade system he has on it, I'd expect that is taken care of already. If you do lots of idle time, Diesel is sure the way to go. This one is not 4x4 though is it?

the 6.2 like stated is good for pulling, it is not a reacer like the newer diesal. the one that was converted was the olds 350, you want to avoid that one and i am not very fond of the 6.5 either but some people love them, so yes the 6.2 is a good motor, they were not tubo hence the lower power

This is a 2wd. I was thinking of this as a DD and use my current Burb as a backup. What are the costs of the heater controller upgrades and what's it cost to replace an injecter pump? Is it something I can do myself?
