For real !!! Do we really think he can get $500 each??? I see them around here needing a little work for $200, and if in pristine condition $300.

Not sure what to say about that one as far as what to offer, but $800 is certainly to much. I'd probalby have to shoot the guy a $300 offer. Missing lots of interior and if he DOESN'T know for sure if the motor and trans works, then IMO it doesn't work and they are just cores. Then I'd expect him to laugh me out of his face or suggest $500 and I'd offer $400 and if he didn't take it, I'd be walking. I think that's how I'd handle it.

it is a swb and appears to be rust free which is about all it has going for it.

My wife pawned her electric wheelchair since she doesn't need it any longer and now I have an $800 budget...

You're right and that's why I said I might be willing to go $400 for it. I also notice the passeger door caved in. If it were a long bed and has a couple rust issues like cab corners or wheel well around the bed, I'd only go $200. If the guy could get it started up it and proved the motor is at least worthy and the trans works, I'd go $600. But, that's just me. I know I'm a cheap ass when it comes to buying squares. Of course I rarely talk people down unless I have good reason to. Its more a matter of searching out the good deals and pounce at any given minute, cuz if you don't get it NOW, someone else will.

Good for the wife. That's awesome. If there is ever a set of wheels that you'd want to get out of , sell or don't need anymore, a wheelchair is the one you actually celebrate getting rid of. Good for her !!! :High 5:

It apears the good ole days of the 100-200 dollar trucks are all but over. With scrap prices as high as they have been the last couple years most of the trucks are gone, hence the reason people are paying more for less of a truck. hell ive had people tell me that If i put a running motor in Ole Blue that i could get as much as 2,000.00 for it just because its a short bed 4X4.
You can part these trucks out and make decent money off of parts and then scrap the rest of them. BTW just called the place I been taking them too and i was told 170 a ton now, gonna call a few more places tommorow and then by Friday probably gonna load 3-4 trucks on the trailer to sell.

I have said that about scrap prices going to high and the days of me getting trucks for $50, $100 and $150 are over. But, that just might not be the case anymore here. Timing is of the essence. Becasue the scrap yard here is so damn full, and they can't get the stuff out fast enought, they have dropped car bodies to $150/Ton and scrap metal to $50/Ton. I told the guy, what is up with that. He says scrap dropped in price. I told him BS, guys on my truck forums are getting over $200 for car bodiles and $160/ton for scrap, and you are only paying $50/ton??? He came clean with me and told me to go to Tulsa or Dallas with my metal, that he can't get it out fast enough, he has to much of it, and could really careless if he buys anymore or not so he dropped his prices. Then the other 2 yards started getting calls like crazy from this other places low paying customers. Some idiot told them, yeah this place is only paying $X, so the other yards followed suit. OKC is not a place to be selling scrap right now. MIght be a good time to pick up some cheap trucks.
