Do you recall any of the build specs? And I'm assuming they were the larger, 2.5" outlets?

They were the larger 2.5" ramhorns. They were tested on a chevy small block, wasn't stock but had a mild build to it. Not sure what the displacement was.

Aren't there aftermarket versions available, with or without generator mounts and also in straight or 45 degree?

When I got mine I didn't see any angled 2.5 inch, and the 2.5 inch has the alternator on driver's side. Not a big deal, but when I rewired the truck I routed everything to passenger side.

Now the v8 is coming out, and the 292 is going in, so rewiring/rerouting wires will be to accommodate that, and v8 will go to some other vehicle.

Found it it was a 383 with a cam in the 270 range. Exact cam was not quoted what was stated was the difference would have been much bigger had the cam been in the 280s instead of the 270s.These were repop 2.5s with the anti reversion bumps ground out. Personally I'd have tried them with the bumps in first.

Hmm. That's a little disappointing. I was expecting it to be a little closer and then there's the 2" shocker, lol. My Impalas need some 2.5" exhaust.

Yep the 2.0 numbers make you think. But the 2.5s you lose a little down low and then almost dead even to 5200 I'd say the rams horns did better than I'd have thought they would. I bet they're even closer with a 350.

I did it in the 80s on my C5 you have to make the 90 degree bend tight to the manifold or in my case the lower a arm would come up and hit the bend and eventually blow out the donut

I just saw a set of rams horns in the junkyard yesterday on a 68 truck.
I just kept walking by though as I like headers.

Are you guys putting these on modified engines?

nope just a stock 350 with a towing bottomend hi-torque cam and Z28 springs.

looks like clearance issues with straight down exiton driv side, so need use an angled back 45 exit manifolds for the 73-up 2wd clamshell mounts, and straight down centers on pass side to clear before the forward-end of starter motor case. i will be running sightly hogged out and polished 2" stockmanifolds. i have one already. just need to go grab one for the other side of truck, and order the dual kit for a 63-72 sbc truck

No exhaust shops around your area? Someone with a bender could fab up a couple of head pipes pretty quickly, I would think., 2 1/4 or 2 3/4 diameter? Why not 2 1/2 or 3, more common.
nearest is about 40 miles away i have no way to get transport the truck that far to there from here, andmy stock smogger manifolds are untouched with totaly crusted rusted frozen stuck outlet flange studs which will require pulling manifolds off truck andheating and removing and replacing them., and then still have smogger crapola logger manifolds that i dont like or want to run. if i am gonna run 2" outlet manifolds then i want them to be ram horns.

67-72 will work, I'm not 100% on the straight dumps, but the turn back dumps will work just fine. This is a 4wd truck that mine are on, but you need the manifolds with no bracket type deals, casted on the front.

I bought some 2.5" center dump manifolds 8 years ago for my 400. The exhaust shop said there was a slight clearance issue on the driver side with the manifold and the clamshell. They cut out part of the clamshell and welded on it underneath to strengthen it back up. The 400 was then replaced with a 383 with vortec heads. Manifolds still work and have been leak free.

Manifolds were bought here:
https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Corvette-Style-2-1-2-Inch-Ram-Horn-Exhaust-Manifold,9133.html

Great deal at $60 each. I didn't need any of the bracket stuff so I ground it off.

Well 68 and I both still need to know about 2wd. But thank you everyone. Come on somebody's tried center dump rams horns or block huggers on 2wd

exactly. apparently no one on the planet has ever put 2" ram horns on a 2wd after 72.. wow..

Both Hooker and Dynomax have 2 1/4" manifold back dual exhaust kits for 75 C20 trucks, available everywhere those brands are sold.

Hooker #16622
Dynomax #89006

but not for 2" outlet rami horns on a 73-up 2wd haha. fail again.

angled back 45
Most center dump manifolds were 2". The Corvette type were 2.5"
2"stock dirt common too. which is what is apparently the manifold that is needed for the driv side 73-up mounts clearance.
