and i cant find anyone around here or anywhere with any exhaust 2-1/4" duals for these trucks anywhere around here or anywhere online.. just dont exist, impossible,.. so im hoping to get 72 older exhaust and put on ram horn manifolds, it looks like.. i have a couple or few ram horn manifolds around here stashed.

Both Hooker and Dynomax have 2 1/4" manifold back dual exhaust kits for 75 C20 trucks, available everywhere those brands are sold.

Hooker #16622
Dynomax #89006

Are you guys putting these on modified engines?
Ramhorns are the best flowing factory gm manifold you can get. I'm sure they're plenty good for a decent build. I'd say above 350 horse maybe 400 I would look into good headers.

The angled dump rams horn manifolds may fit better, but they are 2”, not 2.5”. It just depends on whether you want the 2.5” exhaust.

Both angled dump and straight dump clone manifolds are available from many sources, and for about $140-180/pair they appear to be identical to those sold by Dorman.

Most center dump manifolds were 2". The Corvette type were 2.5"

And the corvette type are straight dump

Yeah, I used the wrong word. By center dump, I meant straight.

There were lots and lots of trucks, Impalas, etc with straight outlets that were 2".

I have a set on Crusty Biscuit. Thought about swapping in a set on the '81, but never did. I bought a set of the corvette 2.5 outlet straight dumps for Crusty, but I didn't want to swap around the wiring to relocate the alternator, so I left it alone.

Aren't there aftermarket versions available, with or without generator mounts and also in straight or 45 degree?

When I was doing research on mine I had found some actual dyno runs between full length headers and the ramhorns. They were very very similar in power until the upper RPMs (5,000 RPM+) Then full headers are better. I can no longer find that page.

But with my 400 and now my 383 there is no "high RPMs".

Interesting, about what I expected, once you start getting higher in rpm and air flow you'll need headers eventually. But yes 5,000 rpm is pretty much a nono for most peoples engines here lol, even the modified boys.

Do you recall any of the build specs? And I'm assuming they were the larger, 2.5" outlets?

I've read the same thing no appreciable gain with headers vs. 2.5 rams horns.I saw the dyno results too. Lt1 Camaro vs lt1 vette there was like a 15hp difference but the engines are identical except the exhaust manifolds. I want them for a twin turbo build, but that's another story.

I'm a pro-header kinda guy. I put headers on everything. But I've got a couple of Impalas that still retain the ram's horn manifolds for that reason.

To hell with log manifolds though.

I'm right there with you. Long tubes always, but I think the Rams horns are going to be a real cheap option on a twin turbo.
