Do any of you fine fellers following along on this awesome thread possibly have an answer for me on the following issue?

Earlier this week all was well until this morning. I get in the car and noticed that the HVAC control panel is not telling the fan to blow any air. All the lights are on and you see where the control panel is displaying what i'm doing with the knobs (fan speed, mode setting,....) but it's doing nothing. At this point it just a panel with pretty lights.

I've checked all of the fuses labeled with anything to do with HVAC and they all look good (I only found 3 in the interior fuse panel. None in the fuse panel under the hood). I'm assuming at this point that I need a new HVAC control panel but thought I'd check with you all first to find out if this is a common issue and if so if there are resolutions that could be the fix? In my experience, if it was a resistor then fan speed would only work on Hi but nothing else. I guess it could be the blower motor itself?? Maybe I should tap it with a hammer to see if it starts spinning and if it does then it probably needs replaced?

And I've actually been looking online for replacement HVAC control panels and apparently it's either not called the for this car or they don't reproduce them

I know on my t-blazer one issue was the resistor pack and it's pigtail. Started by loosing high speed on the fan. The next time it was the ignition switch which sounds more like your problem. Yes I know it's stupid but my a/c was working fine. Stopped and got gas. Started back up and nothing. New resistor pack and pigtail, nothing. RE confirmed ALL of the fuses were good. Nothing. Took it to my ac shop. They called and said "FIXED" I'm like WTF?? Ignition switch. But it started and ran fine.

wow. that is super odd! I would have never thought that to be the case. I'll definitely keep that in mind as I continue to troubleshoot.

I went back to work and said something about it and one of the engineers in the office looked up and said "your ignition switch is bad". I said "no **** sherlock" I don't understand but on the newer stuff things like that are linked together.

Looks like I can get one off Rock Auto for about $70. If I determine it not to be a blower motor or resistor I will have to start YouTubing how to replace the ignition switch. I wonder how much of a PITA that job is LOL

Tap on the blower first. If it doesn't run, pull the plug and see if it's melted. If it's not melted, check power and ground at the plug. If all is good, replace the blower.

If it does run when you tap it, check the plug. If it's not burned or melted, replace the blower.

Doesn’t run when I tap it. I’ll go through the rest of the checks on Saturday when I have light :)

You didn't fix me nuttin' to eat :flipthebird:
Yeah, what he said!
:whymewhyme:
If you have nothing at all, then I would say go ahead and replace the blower motor as that is generally the culprit.
I haven't had a chance to diagnose anything (was sick all weekend and barely made it out of bed) but I did go ahead and order both a blower motor and resistor. The resistor arrived yesterday and the blower motor is supposed to arrive today. My hope is to get it all swapped out tomorrow morning before we start having Christmas festivities tomorrow afternoon/evening.
