I felt it being loose and thought could make it back home less than 1/4 of a mile and then it fell off. Should have stopped and walked back instead trying to drive back. The stupid mistake

That happened to me in my '78. It was getting wobbly and I'm like "I can make it home". I made it closer than you did though, lol. Turned the wheel to pull into my drive way and the wheel folded under. I was half in the street and half in the drive way.

Found the running rich problem, oil pressure gauge wire was connected to choke.

On at least some GM vehicles, like my 82 C10, the choke wire was connected to its own terminal on the oil pressure switch. That was so the choke would heat up (and start to open) only when there was oil pressure, not just when the ignition was on.

Oil pressure switch is indicating low oil pressure at idle below 700rpm.

For an old engine, even 10 psi is OK at 700 RPM. If it's higher when cold, some 10w-40 might help.

It was actual guage wire that should go to sender was connected to choke. I ran it correctly through the oil pressure switch

That's bitchin. I got a friend with an olds 5.7L diesel still running in it and he Specifically only uses it for Buying parts and Junkyard runs said he gets 40mpg in in. Went 3 weeks without refilling fuel. Crazy.

They are two separate units. One runs choke/low oil light and other runs the guage

Hammered it some while at work to reduce tire rubbing. Have to get the fender off to do anything more with it.

Oil pressure gauge is melted. Probably because it was connected to choke and drawn too much current. Or that batt terminal being sent to gnd.
