Who makes a good Oil sending unit?

Random question, are you using thread tape on the sending unit when installing it?

    Strange Burnt Plastic Smell?

Temperature climb after shutoff is normal, as you still have a lot of heat in the engine and no coolant circulating to cool it down, so the coolant temp in the cylinder head climbs. 40psi oil pressure isn't anything to worry about either, in fact, it's a great thing.

Who makes a good Oil sending unit?

Same, I've had a cheapo AutoZone sender on my 87' and now my 84' (engine transplant). Still working fine. If you really want to try it, here is an ACDelco: This is a 60 psi sender, I believe. Not sure what the PN for the 80 psi sender is...

    Direct Horn Test

The test light is probably acting as a resistor, I would try a plain wire lead. They may work just fine.

    Gear Ratio by Tachometer

You most likely have 3.21s. The RPMs will go up under load due to converter slip since the TH400 doesn't have a lock-up torque converter.

    TH400 Oil cooler Pan

I bought what sounds like the same cooler as Austinado, Long Tru-Cool LPD4590. 28,000 GVW cooler, biggest I could find. Long makes the stacked plate B&M coolers, so you can save some cash and just get the Tru-Cool and not pay B&M markup. I got mine on Amazon for $109, and it included an install...

What have you done to your square lately??

Got one fuel tank installed, new selector valve in place, and connected my stub hoses from the crossover lines from the other tank to the selector valve. Doesn't sound like much, but it was a PITA.

    My red line is... 3k?

Make sure the Tach is in 8 cylinder mode if it has a switch.

May have a huge cherry on the way!

Very nice! That is my favorite paint scheme on these trucks, and what I'll be painting my Crewcab. Looking forward to more pics!

700R-4 Wont go past 4000 RPMs

4000 RPM seems like a pretty normal shift point for a smog era 350. No sense wringing it out much higher than that unless it's got a cam or work done to it.

    New rotors

Torque to 12 ft-lbs while spinning the rotor, then loosen the nut slightly, and then re-tighten finger tight. If it doesn't line up with a castle nut slot, back it off until it does, never tighten it to line it up.

That's a heck of a deal for $50, even if you have to rebuild the pump. Nice find!

1986 k10 getting ls swap exhaust question

2010-up Camaro, specifically, should fit. Hooker Cast Iron LS manifolds are a great option. I believe Trailblazer SS and Buick Rainer V8 manifolds will work as well. These are generally the best fitting manifolds, but the motor mount adapters you use will always play a role. The Hooker...

    Thinking of swapping to ls

Yep, just need the cable cruise module from a 91'-up GM vehicle (Caprice, S10, etc).

What have you done to your square lately??

I must like spending money or something, I bought a full set of Michelin LTX MS/2 for my R20 (same 235/85/16 size). $125 would be a lot nicer, I'll have to try those Yokohama's out next time I get tires.

What have you done to your square lately??

Degreased, pressure washed, and Ospho'd the engine bay on the 88' in prep for the LS. With any luck, I'll get it painted up today. Supposed to be about 80* out , so it should be plenty nice to get it done.

    5.7, 5.9 or 6.2

Whatever you do, stay away from the diesel 5.7 Olds. They are a giant heaping turd. They are probably single handedly responsible for destroying the reputation of diesel engines in US passenger cars for 20 or so years...
