I had a few hours to spare this afternoon so I got the cab prepped and taped off. 2 solid coats later and the cab is covert tan.

Started it and rolled the windows up. Poor thing hasn't moved or even gotten a bath since Fall Revival
I haven't started the 84 in about two weeks. Tried to fire it up last night and it didn't start. Have to look at it this weekend. :(

I had never touched a steering box til mine. There are a few really good vids out there - found that mine was missing parts as I got into it. Best way I could suggest to keep the bearings all in place is to use royal purple grease - everything stays in place. Kits (rings and seals) are cheap. I'm an idiot and it came out great - works very smooth. I would take it over an $800 rebuilt one.

Finished installing fender badges and dash badge. Officially showing GMC rep now!

Also bonus pic of engine. Still struggling with AC freon not flowing through orifice tube properly and freezing up. May just give up and take it to a shop at some point. Will be the first time this truck sees a shop outside an alignment in over a decade.

Is the low side pressure switch doing it's job? If it's not cutting the compressor off when the low side pressure drops too low, it'll tend to freeze over.

I’ve been working in the dark trying to make a new exhaust system. The old one just didn’t settle with me and I’ve wanted glasspacks for awhile. Finally got my spark plug wires in the right location and got the truck running again. Gave my truck its first tattoo…

They cost a lot more now though. I used to buy them at the local Quality Farm and Fleet store (long gone now) for only $9.99 each.

Nice exhaust!
I got mine for $26 dollars apiece at Oriellys and I thought that was a good deal. I love the sound of glass packs. I know most people want Flowmasters now but they’re too hollow sounding to me.

Is the low side pressure switch doing it's job? If it's not cutting the compressor off when the low side pressure drops too low, it'll tend to freeze over.
It's a new switch. Is there a way to test it?

When filling it up, it does cycle until it has more freon. Then it freezes up at the expansion valve but remains cool (not remotely cold) on the drier.

Pressures also tend to be high in high side relative to where it should be compared to low side

Do the magnaflow straight through mufflers count as glasspacks? If so, I've had them on my truck for a decade and love them. The sound matches the era of these trucks so well.

Was able to get the fenders bolts down and aligned, hood on with new hinges and springs and the cowl vent plastic replaced and the cowl bolted back on. The bed is sitting in place but isn’t bolted down yet.

Love that sound! Still saving up for some long tubes though. I’ve got the glass packs dumped at the axle with no pipe after them but have heard they will sound better with a tail pipe. Any suggestions or leave them as they are?
