Seems as you've thought that out. And that sounds like a good Ford so I'm good with it.

Meh... all your exotic wannabees.

I would settle for a '78 Chev Silverado shortbox with 1 tons and bbc.

I'm doing one of my dream builds now. I've always wanted to build a square crew cab (single wheel) into the ultimate camper towing wagon, which is exactly what I am in the middle of doing.

Second dream build is to build a 72-93 dodge 1/2 ton short wide (my first ever vehicle was a 1982 dodge short wide). I've always had a soft spot for anything Mopar. I stumbled across a shining example of one in the form of an '89 last year, so I bought it. It will be getting a 360 stroked to 408 once I finish my square project. In the mean time it is 100% stock, and the 318 tbi runs great. It's fun to drive.

The Tri-Five Chevies are sooo expensive even in less than okay shape. Maybe you just gotta sniff out the deals or know someone, but I quit looking at them a while ago. Maybe someday but not today. I feel like I could find a 1949-51 Chevy Fleetline for cheaper since they're a lot less desirable, and I'd be almost as happy. I don't know what I would do this engine wise. Keep the six if I don't already have one, and maybe go big block if I don't have one. Getting rid of the Powerglide would be quick and painless. I don't know if I'd go standard or automatic, but it would have at least four speeds. Aftermarket air and figuring out a way to listen to tunes without getting rid of the factory radio (maybe one of those lookalike radios that people are going with these days), and I'd be good to go.
