I’ve seen worse for sure. Just taking a breath and thinking objectively at this point. I do know there’s a place just north of me that does custom work- next nice day I have I’ll take a drive up there and see what he says. I’m sure it won’t be cheap but it won’t get any cheaper if it sits like this.

Go ahead an do yourself a favor, throw that lmc gasket in the garbage. When your ready to do it again order a precision one.

Still screwing with the crew cab. Besides replacing the spring bushings with greasable ones, I've also installed a new stabilizer, tightened/replaced some loose frame and crossmember hardware, along with checked the alignment. Today I also rotated tires and went back to the stock rims on the front (had been running military 36's on humvee wheels, complete with run flats) which has done me no good at all. Previously, it had a high tendency to death wobble and it was bad. Now with the front end improvements, it's actually undriveable. Like, literally can't even take it on the road because once you hit about 15-20 mph it brings on the most ungodly death wobble I've ever experienced. Very frustrating since the front end is tight.

Nope. It's just one of those obstacles we deal with when working on these old rigs. I was worried when I got my windshield done (I wasn't here) but my glass guy said it looked good, thankfully. And he and his son both have squares so I trust his judgement

It’ll give me a reason to take the truck for a cruise tomorrow or Thursday, so I’m heading out to a shop that someone referred me to a long time ago out in the country. Nice guy, I’ve talked to him before and he works with squares all the time.

In the meantime I’ll be putting on those anodized gold Moroso valve covers this week and also have a B&M shift kit on the way.

Gotta keep these trucks going, and it’s a minor setback but it’s mine and I believe I can take care of this thing better than anyone else.

It helps that I got a record number of waves, thumbs and devils horns when I was in town today and none of them were in squares. I don’t take it as my truck is special but that these things are appreciated these days.

Finally some progress! There's the usual setback to go along with it... but progress!

I pulled the cap from the right side knuckle and installed two washers on top of the spring. Total thickness added was right about .220".

The setback happed on the left side. There's a steering block installed, so there is studs and nuts. 3 of the studs came loose, but one of them, the nut rounded off. So now to deal with that, I've got to cut that nut off of the stud and replace the stud.

But!!! After adding the washers to the right side, the truck can be driven again! It still has a bad wobble when slowing down and getting below 20mph, but the difference is night and day. So I'm on the right track at least.

Agreed, I miss all the thumbs ups and compliments when driving mine. Can't wait to get it back on the road

A friend is looking for a vehicle after his truck (a 2017 Silverado)got totaled by hail. Sunday he showed up with a 2017 ford explorer full blown cop car. Lights, antennas, cages full blown cop car. He say what do you think? Good shape. 62000 miles. A few weird codes. On the way back to dealership it blew up right in front of 3 used car salesman. Oil running onto their shoes. Kevin said, No thanks. And left.

Next, I started to help look and found a number of trucks to go see. One owner called back and made an appointment. We went to look at a 94 K1500 GMC, Mostly loaded. Everything worked, 92000 miles. Straight, no bondo, no rust. Drove really nice. It was the owners dead aunts, she dies about a year ago at 97 and gave him the truck. I found evidence of mice, but no big damage. Owner wanted 8K. Kevin negotiated it down to 6K as the A/C was not working, and bought it.. Thats a good deal HUH?

Your search and post are accurate. This was a racer or possibly a King snake skin. I've been a King snake around the garden this year. I leave them alone as they are good at keeping other harmful snakes away.

Here's a good example of a Timber rattler came up on a few years ago not at my house but at a family farm south of me in NC, but we have them right here as well. Apologies to those who hate snakes....I get it, the creepiness of them is a real thing. They used to wig me out but I've learned they have their place. I've killed plenty of Copperheads and some Cottonmouths over the years, nearly stepped on one Cottonmouth. The only reason I didn't get struck by it I think is because it was early morning and cold.

Side note from the thread: Having grown up in coastal SC where we all swam in the rivers that had water so dark you couldn't see your hand 10 inches from your face, that all the gators and moccassins swam in... I am glad where we are in central VA having a much milder wildlife set for our kids we are raising now. No gators, no rattlesnakes. Kind of puts my mind at ease a bit. We did see a bear teen that had probably just been kicked out by his mom down the street in the early spring though.
