Welcome to Squarebodies! If it isn't one thing, it's another. This would be a good time to check your master cylinder, and brake booster, give you that little extra piece of mind. Just my suggestion while your at it....

Thanks for this! I was thinking of having someone rebuild it if I can't get the right one from the parts houses. We used to have a shop that rebuilt starters and alternators. Don't know if they are still there.

Hello 82sbsortbed! Hope you are doing well.

I just wanted to share this video with you and all the GMSB Buddies. This gentleman explains it really well and without loud obnoxtious music.
He is just direct and to the point.

Check it out. You might be able to save you a litt money and puts you to work on your bench... LOL :D

Have a very good end to your weekend and a good start to your week!
Best wishes to you and all of your loved ones always!

Still screwing with the crew cab. Besides replacing the spring bushings with greasable ones, I've also installed a new stabilizer, tightened/replaced some loose frame and crossmember hardware, along with checked the alignment. Today I also rotated tires and went back to the stock rims on the front (had been running military 36's on humvee wheels, complete with run flats) which has done me no good at all. Previously, it had a high tendency to death wobble and it was bad. Now with the front end improvements, it's actually undriveable. Like, literally can't even take it on the road because once you hit about 15-20 mph it brings on the most ungodly death wobble I've ever experienced. Very frustrating since the front end is tight.

Got the starter wired up. Was trying to bolt it up and was having trouble getting it back on. So I took a break because I was getting mad and didn't want to break something. Lol

Well it decided to pour down rain. So that was it for yesterday. Really needed the rain so wasn't to mad about it. Try again when I get home from work.

Man, that’s frustrating. What’s next then? Has to be something…

Kudos for the Earnhardt plate BTW. Maybe his ghost is in the cab with ya playing with the steering.

Good morning 82sbshortbed!
Keep us posted on that stubborn starter.

At least it was some well needed rain and not a flooding rain.

Have a good week!

I'll probably be wasting time, but my next step was to mess with the king pin springs. Maybe add a washer on each side.

Ah, the setbacks. Gotta tell myself not to give in. Have to do some regrouping and thinking myself today.

Took the truck in for a new windshield today since it’s all cracked to hell. Lots of underlying rust. So they’re cleaning it up and reusing the old gasket for now since it was perfectly fine. It is garage kept and doesn’t go out in the rain.

The LMC gasket can sit in the box for now until I find someone who can clean up the windshield mounting area.

It may actually not be that bad once you get it vacuumed up. Hopefully just needs a small patch and some rust converter
I’ve seen worse for sure. Just taking a breath and thinking objectively at this point. I do know there’s a place just north of me that does custom work- next nice day I have I’ll take a drive up there and see what he says. I’m sure it won’t be cheap but it won’t get any cheaper if it sits like this.

Nope. It's just one of those obstacles we deal with when working on these old rigs. I was worried when I got my windshield done (I wasn't here) but my glass guy said it looked good, thankfully. And he and his son both have squares so I trust his judgement
