New halogen conversions for ol brown. They've already toured all over Virginia getting here for some reason. I blame it on @Big Chip getting them for his round eye and pushing me over the edge. ;) For a square eye it was no different than changing a bulb, no harness or other parts needed.

Perfect for the one time every two years I drive her at night. It will be nice having better light and not having to replace them every year for inspection(hopefully). There was always one out for some reason even though they were rarely used.o_O

I assume this is the conversion where you can now put one of the modern type halogen bulbs in the back of the housing? I'm kind of looking to upgrade at some point. I did an LED conversion on my 96 Grand Cherokee and HATED it so definitely not going there again.

Yes, it has the newer style halogen bulbs that can be replaced but they have the 3 pins on the back that directly connect to the oe wiring. There is a rubber rain hat thing not pictured as well.

I haven't had the time to find out where to get replacements for this style bulb yet so I put the old sealed units on the shelf. If anyone has a source for these replacement bulbs let me know.:)

Swapped the T-case skid plate from the Suburban carcass onto the pickup. Just in case I,... ahem,... run across?.... any rioters.

Don't mind the patina. I was going to blast it and paint it, but figured I'd save that for when we do the major reconstructive surgery.

Judging from the back view they look like 9003 bulbs. If that's the case you can get them at any auto parts store, unless they are a special hue or wattage.

Looks like a good project. Guess mine being a 4 headlight truck means it's a 4 beer project?

Well these were in the box which had the needed parts for another car so these were a pleasure cruise install. They've actually been in my cart since like March. ;) And you gotta stay hydrated.
Real time no, its nothing more than removing a couple screws. I did pry on a few of the tabs to get good contact, no sense in not being thorough. Relaxing and pounding a few on a project you want to do, ******* priceless. :burnout:

First two pictures are of my spare install. I decided to try holding it in place with turnbuckles. There were already holes in the bed that I could link the turnbuckles into. It certainly meets my criteria for quick removal when I need use of the entire bed, but because it's a tire and there is no way of holding the bottom in place I am a little conserned if it'll stay tight againest the wall of the bed. The bed is lined with an anti-slip bedliner so I'd image that will help never the less I'll be watching it closely the next few times I drive it just to be sure it's safe.

Bottom two pictures the one on the left is of the right side of the bed tool box. You can't see it in the picture but this is an old box that has legs that go down to the bed. You can see that it does not over lap the bed rail like most of them do. It's not the box I would have picked, but it was free and at least for now that's good enough. So what I did on both sides between the bed and the box, I drilled a hole in the tool box and installed an eyelet. On that eyelet I installed a turnbuckle. The turnbuckle extends forward towards the cab and links in to the bottom of the stake pocket on the side of the bed. I installed them with a slight downward angle to help assure the box is secure against the bulkhead and the floor of the bed. This install seems to be rock solid, never the less I will watch it as it's a new and unconventional. This also meets my requirement of the box being easy to remove for when I need that bit of bed space. My attitude has always been I have a long bed so I can have more bed space. Adding the box basically leaves me with a similar bed space to a short box. So I decided that it had to be easy to remove. When I initially had it in the bed I just had it held in with a ratchet strap, which did keep it in place but it was so unsightly. What I did realize is that extra space the box provides for me to put my crap, and keep it dry, safe and clean is sure nice. So there it is I guess I'm a convert. The bed box is sure nice to have.

I didn't really take pictures of this part but I did wash and quick wax the truck. Did a good cleaning under the hood as well.

Replaced the headliner.

Discovered a vacuum hose (black with orange stripe) laying around the wires for the light in the glove box. Thanks to the forum, I quickly learned what it goes to. Removed the cowl to expose the fresh air vacuum diaphragm. Spliced the cut vacuum hose back together with some Tygon fuel hose from work (used on 2 stroke lawn care equipment like string trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, etc), and now have a correctly working HVAC system. Not only that, but the truck seems to idle better, AND, it appears to be back to getting 17/18/19mpg out on the freeway. No idea how long that vacuum hose was broken, or how it happened.

Fixed the broken windshield washer hoses at both wiper arm bases, using the same Tygon fuel hose.

Had an inoperative driver's side horn. Pulled the grill and found the issue was just due to a haze of corrosion on the electrical connector at the horn.

The lower carpet pieces on the doors of my Sub were missing the bright trim pieces.
I got some new ones from LMC and put them on.

The problem is that LMC only carries the trim pieces for the front door so I had to do a little trimming for the rear doors.
