Definitely feel more power at the seat, absolutely no doubt about it, but at rpms like 3500 and over, coil is fading on me.

Distributor was DEFINITELY worn out... bad.... it had a ton of side to side and up and down slop when i removed it.

So tomorrow should i have time, im upgrading to the ignition box and super coil i have and regapping.
i seem to recall a gentlemen who complained to me for about 35 minutes about how you needed a tech 2 like mine to perform a relearn when the distributo is changed or moved.
Is that relevant?

The next to you build a motor i would recommend you replace the distributor to save you some trouble.

Ignition box and coil wasnt working. (I believe i need to fiddle with timing, truck just kept shutting off after like... 1 minute of idling)

No idea why, my buddy just "happened" to have a MSD coil in the back seat his car, we plugged it up, MAN SHE ******* PULLS!

Needs a couple more degrees in base timing and she'll run like a mother ******!l

@Rusty Nail i also backed the knock sensor out a 1.5 turns.

My buddy made a very valid comment as well when we took the truck for a spin, he felt like the TV cable wasnt tight enough, and i suspected as much.
Now that the great deal of the ignition troubles are cleared, i can FINALLY fine tune the transmission line pressure

Every so often it would downshift at WOT but not very often, like after i changed distributors, it downshifted at WOT, but immediately coughed and almost died. (Due to failing coil)

I assumed the old failing ignition module was preventing the Rpms from really increasing at wot , but now, after these changes, i can clearly see i need to tighten the tv cable a notch or 2 for higher pressures.

The thought occured to me a little bit ago why the iginition box wasnt working..... how stupid of me!

The box has an anti theft signal wire on it, you must ground it to deactivate that feature.

That explains why the truck would only run for 1 min or less then shut off

Im gonna hook that back up with the coil and see how it does.

Woooooo girl!
Disabled the anti theft on the ignition box, hooked everything back up, now she starts to break tires from a dead stop!

Exhaust doesnt smell so gassy now either that im applying the correct voltage for the .060 gap.

Its got that sexual... ideal AFR smell.... the 93 octane smell....:hump:

Just a wee bit rich still, but i can tell shes wanting a couple degrees of base timing to be satisfied!

Might i also add, engine temps went back to a satisfying 160 again, vs 180 with big gap and not enough arc to fire.

Did a little more fiddling with trans line pressure, itll now spin the tires from a stop, and smack 2nd while doing it.

Tightened the tv up a few more clicks, it holds 1st all the way to 50mph at WOT.

Orginally was doing it at 35.
Gonna back that off to maybe 40mph to get a little more distance out of 1st before it shifts.

That was just TOO MUCH PRESSURE for me.

So much in fact, downshifting to 1st from like, 35 or so barked the tires.

i quit beating it afterwards, ill decrease the pressure maybe 2 notches and leave it.

This evening ill also bump timing up a tad and do another pull.

Good thing you caught that TV cable before you earned a roasted 700.

Ive cooked two 700r4s before....
While this one is stout, and built for 600hp, theres only so much torture the pressure plates, 2nd gear band, and input/pump can take before something is damaged.

Edit: Well, not torture, but more so punching it down the stairs rather than just smacking it.

@shiftpro

im sure it looked funny to the neighbor lady, id pop the hood, fiddle with the tv, slam the hood 5 times until it shuts, tear ass down the road, come back, do it again, i did that 3 times.

While pulling in the last time after i realized i went too far i was saying to myself as though i was the transmission
"No more punishment daddy!"

TV backed off to original config, then tightened 2 notches.

Goal of 40 mph 1st-2nd shift achieved.
Gonna wait on motor to cool down a little so i can touch it and then maybe advance timing a couple degrees.
