Posted the pic before, but first time seeing this thread. Cheap little pickup is still my daily, and I love it. Way more enjoyable than the payment on the brand new Subaru I sold back to the dealership.

An on top of that, not only were the covers bolted on, they had heat stakes that had to be ground off too. Why both????

I'm so glad I dumped my '17 Ram when I did. I have 4 different friends that either have their 1-3yr old truck torn way apart for something stupid or it's at the dealer every other month. Same with our '23 Ram 3500 dually at work, it's been at the dealer constantly the last 3-4 months. My 40yr old C10 and my 20yr old daily just keep plugging along

We had a 2004 Chrysler and a 2006 GMC, both bought used in 2013, that were "supposed" to be the daily drivers. Both vehicles did that job, but not without frequent servicing. They both quit, and the ol Burb just kept going. Now the ol crew cab does likewise.
Only way I'd have something way newer again, is if it got great mileage, we could all fit in it, and it had a warranty on it (so somebody else fixes it!).

Dang, hate to hear that '06 GMC was high maintenance. My current '05 is my 8th of that generation truck, they've all been fantastic and other than things I inflicted on them, required nothing more than regular maintenance.

A warranty and someone else fixing it was the idea for our dually but it's cost us alot in tow bills and rentals the last few months. I've made the argument to find a low mile LLY or LBZ 05-07 Chevy/GMC and let one of the diesel shops around us maintain it. All the emissions BS on these new ones just chokes and kills them so much

Hearing of the issues of the newer type cars and stuff, I am happy we have kept this battle wagon around to be our champion all these years.
We bought it 21 years ago about this time as Max was a 13 month old and we wanted a better vehicle that was a better family machine than the 1st one of the squarebodys I have owned.
From the car lot downtown with only 108,000 miles on it.

We bought it 21 years ago about this time as Max was a 13 month old and we wanted a better vehicle that was a better family machine than the 1st one of the squarebodys I have owned.

That makes me miss my ol war wagon! This is her sad state or affairs currently but it used to have 33x12.50 federal muds on 10" chrome wagons. I used to mud hole the hell outta that burb!

The sad part is where I live, you can't drive a Burb year-round for 21 years and still have much body remaining.

Our '88 was downright solid when we bought it in early '06. 10 years later, it really wasn't roadworthy. In '16 we bought a very nice '00 Burb and now, it's nearly as rusted as our '88.

This is what i was balancing with my recent 2000 4runner purchase. New enough to cruise reliably and in comfort. Old enough that it's easy to work on.

I Krown my 1990 burb every fall. $150 per year is cheap if it keeps it from rusting.
