I have a set of vintage US Indy Mags on my VW.
To bad they are too small for me to run the disc brakes I have....

Hahahhahahhaaa
You got me there.

So junior got the wheels and tires all mounted up and balanced.
Then he put them on the truck.
I don't like it.
The tires are way to big and I still don't like the wagon wheels at all.

So off they came and it is still sitting on the black Ford wheels and the tires that it came with.
I do like it more that way.

Is that the bumper they put on all Oregon trucks?! I have a 79 from there with that same front bumper.

It is a part of the Silverado package as far as I remember.
This truck originated in the Toronto plant and lives many of its years in the British Columbia area before heading across the border.

It's just an option that was available. Those pads aren't very common anymore.

Mine is a GMC and built in California but Michigan trucks didn't have those bumpers as I recall. They all had the plain ones.

I've noticed that they are mostly west coast trucks with that bumper. Not exclusively but mostly.

I went in for a set of the Ford 8 lug stockers and found a set.
I was tired from being at the junkyard for hours and told the boy he could come back the next day with one of his buddies to get the wheels.

He proceeds to show me photos of a set of 5 chrome-ish wagon wheels that he found, all with center caps.

I told him he has to clean them up if he wants to run them on my truck, as they were ugly.

I have a set of 285/75/16 tires in the backyard that were free from somebody just giving them away.

He took them today to school as he is in the auto shop for a while.
I just got these photos of one of the wheels without the original tire and still filthy.

Then the next is one of the wheels that had been all cleaned up with 00 steel wool wearing one of those free tires.

Yeah, it was just an option you could get on the chrome bumpers. I don't recall the RPO for the bumper pads.

The one exception is the 1/2 ton Chevy Sport and the GMC Steet Coupe. They all had body colored bumpers but with the plastic pads too.

I also don't think they were available if you ordered the bumper guards, aka bumper thingies.

Lol, well looky there!

Are the bumper guards shaped to fit the pads, or are the pads cut so the guards can fit?
