I agree, they did everything for me for years, tractor, truck, car pickup. A few years age needed tires for the Buick, they were **** lasted less then 30000, so took the car back, and no warranty. Had one replaced that was really bad, full price. So while I was there I looked for a us based tire, could find none. So when I paid for the replacement tire, asked Shawn the MGR, if they carried BFG as I needed a set, and said he could order them, but since it was not a line they carried at the Selah store, they would be expensive. ANYWAY, all offshore, and that doesn't work for me. I now go to a little independent shop, and can get American based tires, Hercules by Cooper, and they are great. My Tires on the C20:
Fun fact, Schwab basically charges just as much for their “house” brands as well. Speaking for light truck tires as I am frequently part of the conversation or approving expenses for the fleet as well.
Last check w/Schwabs a few years ago, after they dropped Toyo and went with the 2 “house” brands and I think Maxxis.
A quote for them to special order Toyos was about the same as market price and only slightly more than the Back Country tires from Dean (Cooper/Goodyear made in USA tires) and their lower end Open Range tires are only marginally less, a few % than those.
Tough to support “local” when local isn’t even remotely competitive.
It took a bit of googling but I just got some new 37s for my diesel. Mickey Thompson ATs, for $430/ea.
By comparison, the avg top tier tires are in the low $500s (online most places or competitive tire chain stores) and Schwab for that size is $560-600/ea.
I kinda lucked out, I guess. As the couple local small time chain stores wouldn’t deal on tire prices. They were in the low $500s for good tires.
I’m still off topic, apologies, but I know yall buy tires and most of ya probably would like to save a buck.
