Rims won't fit on rear with drums.

Bought these rims new OE style 15" chevy rims 62-5806044 off Summit last year. I painted them and went to mount them the other day. They will not fit on the rear has the inner lips of the rims are interfering with the outer edge of the drums. Are there aftermarket drums to allow the rims to fit? I feel like these original drums if that 1/2" lip wasn't there the rims would fit. Doing what I can to save it than getting rid of the wheels.

Looks like you are putting them on backwards or the centers are welded in wrong.

Pictured is the inner part of the rim. Outer lips of drum is interfering with raised lips inside of the rim. You can see the paint scratched off on the edges. I agree they're fabricated incorrectly.

That’s a bummer. Can’t offer any help other than maybe call Wheel Vintiques and talk to them.
Did you look it up on wheel Vintiques? Because I can’t find the exact wheel you show from Summit.
But the closest 2 are a 62-5706044 which is a 15x7 and says 1950-60s Chevy /Ford. And a 62-580604 which says pre 1971.
Without finding WV with the same part number it may be a discontinued model but points to not being applicable to 70s-80s GM K10s.

I’d say they’re fabricated just fine and if Summit listed as fitting a K10 square they are wrong in their application chart.
Too bad you painted them before test fitting? Or another clue if they came painted as the closest WV wheels I found were only offered in primer.

A small spacer would solve your problem, but use longer studs to be safe. Those rims must be made to fit a different style drum.

Without going out to the barn and getting verification, those universal type wheels have a center that is pressed differently than the original 70's/80's GM wheels. The GM wheels have a "deeper" lugnut area I think.

Working at a shop that sells tires we see wheel interference problems almost daily. Know the horse has left the barnyard but always check fit first. Modern production tries to consolidate part numbers. Is it possible drum is not the same as OEM? Although not recommended spacers may be the only option.

on a pile of scrap i have the same 5 lug drum, but i dont know what its technically off, but just saying that as its at least period correct lol

I have seen a couple brands like Raybestos and the lip is lower. I have not gone shopping as I have used rims I have been wheeling around on I can use. I need to get tires changed over so I can drive and enjoy it for now.

It's possible. GM#: 359493 is stamped on the lip of the drum that's interfering. I assumed it's the proper one? I thought I was clear with going OE style but clearly I am wrong here. Ugh!!

That's why I am reach out to you and everyone here whom have experienced this and have a part number of drums that it can fit over? Looking at pics online are limited and no parts store will have them in stocks and not without special order unfortunately.

Yours has the stretched lip on the outer edge as well? Mine is a 1980 also. LOL! Wish I can machine it flush without compromising the structural integrity. I'm sure mentioning this thought will fling some angry arms in the air from some group members!

I painted them because it is only a protective primer out of the box. I did not want to see rust so soon. Otherwise if it was paint I would've left it the same colour.
