He said he was thinking about moving them to the corners of the grille like the quad headlight trucks.

However since the dual headlight grilles are different there's some rework required there to get the cheap-looking plastic lenses to fit.

In my initial post, I explained that I would run the square parking/directional lamps behind the grill in the lower corners... just like the trucks with four headlights (separate hi and lo beams) and then swap the Hella 550 fog lights in place of the original parking lamps located under the headlights. I could use the GM square parking lights behind the grill or something similar... lot more choices to fit behind the grill; no size restriction like the headlamp door opening to contend with.

Heck, I could even put some smaller round parking lights in the space behind the grill. Minimal rework there. The grills look very similar between the 2 headlight and 4 headlight variants... the headlight doors are obviously different. Perhaps the core support is also slightly different to accommodate the parking light under the headlight.

and I got the jab about the "cheap-looking plastic lenses" Blue Ox. Kudos to you ;0)

Im watching this thread. I’m interested to see what you come up with.

Your current head light arrangement is like mine, right?

Yes Frankenchevy, the front end of my truck looks like yours. However, I haven't decided to do this for sure... yet. Also, if I do, I may wait until I get to where I'm going (transferring to a new command in the Pacific NW)... and yes, I'm driving my truck 2,800 miles to get there. Could be some time in October.

Well, there's an option. Thanks Craig!

To keep her looking semi-stock, I think that I might just use the square park lights intended for quad headlight GM trucks. They're inexpensive and mostly hidden behind the grill.

Are there minimum surface area requirements for turn signal indicators/parking lamps in CA like there are for brake lights?
I was going to suggest that there are plenty of small LED lights that could be used behind the grill
Or you could put low wattage lights in the fog lights
Or use some type of resistor to dim the fog light to turn signal strength

The fog Light only having one Filament shouldn’t be an issue of you want to use as parking lights and turn signals

The front side marker lights are only one filament but they are wired to work as marker lights and turn signals

Turn signals are 300 feet unless your over 80" wide then it's 500 feet. The only size requirement were for red Code 3 lamps, but even that has changed with the introduction of LEDs.

OK, I committed. I bought the Hella 550 fog light kit with amber lenses for $65. It includes the wiring harness with relay and H3 lamps. When I find some time, I'll try the install. Busy trying to sell my house before I drive cross-country so it may be a while. I'll check back in when I have more info to share.
