I'll bet someone stuck that tailgate emblem on there, it's not quite in the right spot either.

I bet someone stuck it on there too, cuz it hasn't fallen off yet.

It must be stuck.

10 Digit of the VIN tells the story of the year model and that's that. Towing cars, we have to put year, make and model on the forms. Many times we open a door to take a car, and we don't run plates, but know by the VIN what year it is.

not likely. the 92 is a pass side drop. you could clock the 88 to be in the right posotion, but the floor shifter rod would be a problem.

I can always fabricate a new floor shifter if that's the only problem I'll have when I go to do the swap but I have found a lot of axles from 4x4 chevys that are 6 lug in the junk yard com paired to the drivers side drop axles

Yep, it'll work on the back that 700r4 just like it would on the old square. Shifter will be on the other side of the hump though.

Shifter don't matter to me I can always build a bracket to work with the 92 shifter just be reading wrong but I have a spare transfer case from my k5 that is rebuilt and more axles are available to me that have the passenger side drop on it

Yep, I Think someone said that a few pages back about the 2-4 band being the likely cause. Being it had Reverse, I figured it was. Otherwise, then it's the Sunshell Broke.
So WTF??? Are you saying they are charging $300 for a ******* band??? Or is this the whole repair job??? They're crooks if they're charging $300 for a band? What do they do, just take the part cost and multiply by 10???

Either your 2-4 Band is worn out, or slight possibility of Servo Seals which is not likely and uncommon, or Broken Sunshell. Sounds like the same Problem as Jim's Burb too. It's either the 2-4 Band or the Sunshell is broke. If Reverse was jacked up, then we'd know it was the SunShell.

I guess you didn't get to test drive it? But was told it was all good to go and drove fine?
