I got a transmission for the Tahoe for 50.00 and the guy wants to pay me to fix his exhaust that basicly pays for the transmission lmfao

BTW, Just so you don't come across as misunderstood. Never lmfao at a gift horse. Just be humbly happy and excited. :happy160: It just kinda makes it look like you took advantage of someone and laughing about it. It's not taking advantage at all. It's a great deal that works for you both. He very well could be laughing at you saying, this dumbfuck is going to fix my exhaust that I was going to pay the shop $200 to do for POS transmission I don't need. Point is, you're both getting a deal.

Anyone here will tell you, I scope some killer deals and many times they turn into FREE deals, 2 quick examples.

Like buying a 700r4 4x4 K case and NP241C Tcase for $100, then selling the NP241C on CL for $100, now I have a FREE 700r4 for going to pick it up. The story was, a guy had it in his storage facitily and he owed $50 for another month. So he told them all he had left in there was Trans/Tcase. They told him if he didn't haul it off he'd forfeit his $25 cleaning deposit. So he said I'll haul it to the scrap yard and get $10 for it and get his $25 Deposit back too. He had 2 days left in the storage til the $50 was actually due. So he listed it on CL for $100 obo. I hit on it within minutes. Went and bought it. Clean and nice shape. Also said to work. He had swapped out to a Th400/NP205 and why it was there. I seen the Th400/NP205 in his 89 Burb. It was there with him and I tried to talk him into signing up here. I questioned him, if it works, why so cheap? That's when he told me the story and he didn't want to load it into his Burb and spill fluids, and had no help loading it to get it to the scrap yard. I didn't flinch, I paid the $100 and took it home. Sold the Tcase for $100. FREE trans. We both scored big time. He got $100 instead of $10, didn't have to load it, and got his $25 deposit too.

2nd story. I needed a Th400 splined NP208 for my A833 trans. I had 2 700r4 with adapters splined Tcases. So I put one on CL asking for Trade to Th400 splined Tcase, no adapter needed, for a 700r4 Tcase with adapter or $100 cash. Guy shows up to buy it for $100 in a hunk of ****, dressed like **** and looking hungry. He said he needed it very bad to get his truck running that he hasn't worked in a week and about to lose his job for no transportation. Then he told me his buddy gave him a Tcase but it was the wrong one and wouldn't work cuz the splines were to big. I asked if he brought it with him. He said yeah, it's in the truck of his borrowed car. I got look at it. BINGO!!! Just what I needed, a Th400 Tcase. They guy already has his $100 out in $20's $10's and $5's. It was obvious he scrounged up the $100. I said, buddy, if you want, I'll trade you straight across. You could tell the dude wanted to give me a man hug. The look of relief on his face was unreal. He asked, Are you serious? Oh man you don't know how much that will help me. Then I showed him my A833 and told him what was up, and was happy as a pig in ****. His also had the Th400 adapter with it. I asked if he wanted me to take it off for him. HE said, man, I don't even need it, and you hooked me up with the right adapter for mine, so take it all. So now I got the Tcase I was looking for, and I sold that Th400/NP208 adapter on Ebay for $125 + shipping. So I not only got my Tcase, I got the $100 I was asking my Tcase, and an additional $25 on top of that. Trust me, him and I both won bigtime.

Just saying, appreciate these kind of deals when they happen and realize everyone can be a winner and noone is being taken adavantage of.

He needed that exhaust work and the shops charge 300 I see it as I gave him a deposit on the trans till exhaust work is done and he was gonna use the 700r4 for his wife 97 4x4 but found out the 97 has a 4l60e in it and did not need the 700r4 any more so we all win in this one

Yep, that's exactly my point. :waytogo: There are such things as gift horses and you don't have to be a shyster or crook to get a steal of a deal. I'm a cheap bastard because I have to be now days, but at the same time, I don't feel like I'm taking advantage of anyone to get good deals that I need. I'm a firm believer in Karma, and you go taking advantage of people it'll come full circle and bite you in the ass.

an air of humility`ll takes a man further that a boat load of bragging and bsing, that is for sure.
I like them kinds of stories, especially whan a man can see that look of gratitude in anothers face on such a simple sort of deal,He probably had`nt eaten in a couple of days either.

He didn't have the one that came with it? If he didn't then you're right. For the peace of mind, they are not that expensive. Just use the one out of your truck for a core.

Just go for the stock stall trust me. High stall creates alot of heat and you will have no need for high stall on a stock motor.

Stall RPM, is how high of an RPM you can stall the truck without it moving while slipping the converter. Like doing a power brake burnout. How high can you get the rpm, but the conveter be slipping enough the wheels don't spin.

The purpose of high stall is for racing and a hard launch in your motor's powerband range. IF you have a big cam with a power band range of 2500-5000rpm, then you want to be stalling the motor at least 2500 rpm before the light turns green so you leave in your powerband range. So in that case, you'd probably want about a 2800 stall converter to be well into your powerband range.

Trust me, you don't need it. High Stalls are trans killers. This is why Street/Strip and Race cars need their transmissions freshened up quite often in comparison to a stock stall transmission. They create tons of heat with all the slipping and friction within the converter. Now you're will have lock up, so on the highway it won't matter much, but for your normal city driving, high stall will also kill your mpg cuz you will have to give it alot more gas to get to rolling all the while the converter is slipping.

So 1600 stall is OK then

Yep, I'd say that's about stock. There is what's called a Stock Hi Stall, and it comes in around 1800 for like heavy RV's to help get the RPM's up a bit to take off, but NO, you don't need that either. Somewhere in the 1400-1600 should be perfect.
