But, they would be a period-correct modification though.
Yep but in post 21 he specifically said he didn't want heads that head a specific give away marking like double humps. The way 21 is worded seems to me like he doesn't know the markings by number. So making sure he knew. I've got some 186s,they are my choice of heads for old school castings in certain situations. They just don't meet his demands. I'm thinking 882s or 993s are his best bet for best of the worst.. P.S. the ex. even though she was a motor head, asked me if my 186s had to live in the entry hall. I moved them, she's now gone, for different reasons, but I still have the 186s. So it seems moving them was just a waste of my time. LOL!!!

Yes, you are 100% correct. I only made that statement in case OP would be fine with a period correct, hot rod head. Because you know, popping the hood and showing off those double humps used to be a proud moment for many.

Yep, you are 100 percent right. And when I'd ask them which double humps? They'd look at me and say double humps and I say which double humps? You know, thinking about it,601s would probably be my choice on his build, small chambers, decent shaped chambers, room for porting, decent flow for a factory head and markings 99 percent of people would never notice.
