Welcome for Oregon.
I have found that since the pandemic most of what is for sale is priced high.
There aren't any reasonable prices on muscle cars to be seen.
It is 10k just for an abandoned project car.
If you find a truck that fits your bill, buy it and store it until you are ready for it.
I've been thinking if I can find the type/style I want and it still runs okay, I can use it as a truck just like I did my old salvage Ford that had zero potential. But I liked having a truck for those runs to the lumber yard and recycle center, hauling rototillers or borrowing my friends scaffolding. I could use it as is and slowly over time buy the parts I will want to eventually change. Even if I drove it for several years locally before I really dug into it, that would be fine. Parts store well in my garage. Even if I was too busy to really tear into it, I would still have the hobby in retirement.
Lot's to consider. If I don't find what I want at the price I'm willing to pay, it's all moot anyway.
