need advice

my dad used to own 84 k30 which i found and was planning to buy back off of one of his friends. it has been sitting for 5-7 years outside and then moved into a barn for probably 3 years. it has body rot on the bed rockers and cab corners and i think some frame rot. i was wondering what you guys may thing a fair price would be for the truck. ill try to post more info on rust when i look at the truck again

What are the details on the truck? Motor, trans, 2 or 4 whell drive?

I'm going to assume its 4wd since you said its a K30. If that's the case then I probably has an NP205 transfer case and heavy axles under it(I'm having a brain fart and can't remember which ones). Those make it a highly desirable truck in my opinion.

If it runs and moves, I'd say it's worth a couple thousand without being able to see it.

4 wheel its got a 350 the tranny is a 3 speed with a low dont know if thats a 350 turbo or what. 4.10 diff gears if that helps. pretty much stock.

Probably an SM465 tranny. They're pretty stout. Is it single rear wheel or dual?

i think dana 44 front and 60 rear. he has a new frame and 4 inch suspenison lift with the truck. he said 2500 for all that. but i dont no the condition of the frame. my dad says the frame was good when he sold the truck but we live on a farm and cow crap with do a number to the frames even long term

Ok, I ate my supper and now I'm thinking straight. If it's a K30 it should have Dana 60 front axle and a 14 bolt rear.

Single wheel makes it even more desirable.

2 headlights on each side? That was an option from 81-87 on the higher trim models.

And I don't think they offered the Dana 44 on any GM after 1979 or 80.

12 bolt rearend is definitely pre-1982 as the last year they were offered was 1981. Sounds like this truck has been pieced together.

If it's a K30 and single wheel, it will have a D60 front and full float 14 bolt rear. The D60 could have been robbed at some point and swapped with a D44 or a 10 bolt. If it's still 8-lug, then it still has the 14 bolt rear.

Price will mostly be determined by which axle is still in front, the amount of frame rot, and how well it runs. The replacement frame is only useful if it's actually a K30 frame with the taller rails.
