Any updates?
Found a '73 truck engine with a factory forged crank and 049 heads. It was burned up after snapping the oil pump shaft, but the block made .060, and the crank made .010. The heads cleaned up well. Saving money for the pistons, cam, and rebuild kit.

Found a '73 truck engine with a factory forged crank and 049 heads. It was burned up after snapping the oil pump shaft, but the block made .060, and the crank made .010. The heads cleaned up well. Saving money for the pistons, cam, and rebuild kit.

Sweet !!! Thanks for the update. If it's really a forged crank, you plan on putting some hp/torque to it? The 049 heads are Pissnut Port aka Peanut Port heads aren't they? Need to find you some older 396 heads or even some early 427 or Fo Fitty Fo heads.

Nope, those are the "good" large oval port heads same as 781's, only difference is chamber size, 049's has 122cc, 781's has 118cc..
