Was gonna say, I've never seen a stainless traditional Flowmaster, only the newer ones like the FX. But all the chambered ones I've seen rot out after a few years. I had a set of 40s on my first Mustang that one of the baffles let loose. That car is why I DESPISE flowmasters, so much drone

Ivr heard good things about purple hornies. Theyre very similar to cherry bomb. I actually have one on my 4.3 s10.

The normal chambered type are available in stainless as well.

When I quoted that post, I tried to be as nice as possible. What I really wanted to say was "You can't just say you have Flowmaster mufflers and love them for whatever reason, and just leave it at that". There's way too many kinds." But I didn't want to sound like an a$$, lol.

I have a set of Flowmaster 50 series big block mufflers on my truck in 3". They came on the truck, which had been sitting in the guys back yard since AT LEAST 2006. They have zero rust and still look mostly brand new. All the 3" exhaust pipe that was running in and out of the mufflers was almost completely eaten through with rust before I replaced it all. They are actually fairly quiet, but have a nice deep rumble.

I would suggest looking at the Pypes mufflers. They are ~$100 and full stainless. I put one on my Suburban right before the flowmaster to tone it down a bit more and it really deepened the rumble and took the slight amount of drone that I was having under full load while towing right out.

I used resonators from Lyell’s Stainless Exhaust in Ontario for the mufflers for the sidepipes I made for the 76. They are basically glasspack mufflers. They sound like glass packs.

However they also make and sell chambered type mufflers of various configurations, might be worth checking out. Stainless and made in Canada, eh.

And I had the opposite experience. New exhaust with Flowmasters was installed in the blue truck right around the turn of the century, lol. Mufflers were dated 1998.
The whole system looked cherry. Headers and all, until started putting miles on it in 2022.
The mufflers lost the baffles and began to unzip. The headers are still made of rice paper and have several patches now and the H pipe didn’t have a drain hole in the low spot and it rusted thru a bit.
The mufflers surprised me because they looked GOOD and then just literally fell apart, both of them simultaneously within about 1000 miles.
